Hey guys, I had just finished putting together an old blue box 89 foot flat car. When I screwed the truck assembly to the frame (leaving enough space for the truck to swivel side to side) The trucks are still rather wobbly, and when I set this on the track I know it's going to look goofy, may even tip over with trailers on it. I think I washer would be the best solution to this? What's the best size to use and who supplies them? Thanks fellas, Jeff.
Unless you have sanded the king pin socket on the trucks or the mounting hole on the railcar frame, it should be ok. If you look real close on the top of the truck bolsters, just outboard of the king pin hole, you will see what looks like a lump on each side. This is what the car rides on to keep itself stabile. When you hold the car with the trucks suspended, you would certainly get the impression that the car would be quite wobbly. If you added washers in the king pin area, you would be lifting the car on the trucks to the point that the lumps on the bolster wouldn't be touching the bottom of the railcar frame and then the car would flip flop from side to side.
Thanks for the response Ken, I'll look for what you mentioned
-Jeff
