Back in the early 2000's. Poor pullers. Gear issues. Same as their 2-8-2's of the same time period. Good models to stay away from IMHO.

I haven't had any issues with my pacific.
Glad to hear that. I never owned one, I just browsed a couple of other forums and those are the comments I found. I did evaluate their 2-8-2 at my club. It wouldn't pull very much at all. Too light!

New gears available at NWSL. You can make these better pullers by adding sheet lead in the boiler area. These are made by Samhongsa
and are nice locos in my opinion. Going to a softer spring at the drivers helps them to "ride" better. Removing the shell can be somewhat nerve racking, you just need to go slow and easy.
