I have two Bachmann Diesel Locos that came in a set. They are both DCC, and both have lights already. I was thinking of upgrading them so that they have sound so they match the rest of my locos. I'm just curious to know... Are they worth it? I don't want to spend top dollar on a decoder with sound if I can't even fit the stuff inside that's needed.....

These are the two I have:

Now. If it's not a waste of my time and money to upgrade these two to dcc and sound, (Already have DCC) what decoders would be the best choice. I'm using a digitrax Zephyr 3 amp setup for my dcc.

Ooh I'm really not a Bachman fan so I'll wait for someone who knows more to jump in.
Personally I'd put the cash into a Proto, Atlas, Kato, maybe Walthers loco.
Just an opinion, i don't know anything about the new releases.
Big help, eh?

I have a Bachmann GP 38 with DCC on board.
I acquired a sound card and speaker. Most disappointing!
No space for the speaker, you might squeeze the card in but it's pretty tight.
Best of luck.

I'm just looking for info.... But I was thinking the same thing about putting the money into something else. They both run pretty good, and the dcc lighting works good. Maybe I'll leave these two as they are, and purchase something with sound built in.

You could also 'dedicate' a box car to be pulled behind the loco, and install the speaker in that. You would have to run wires to it, or use a very small mini plug.
