A friend sent me these pictures of a switcher at The Cleveland Works Railroad that services Arcellor Mittal Steel, Cleveland, Ohio. Dedicated to U.S. Military in 2004. Still in service I am told. Great looking loco.

Kind of interesting for a multi-national company headquartered in Luxembourg to escape most taxes and is owned by a consortoium of companies from Spain, France, and Germany. They have a nasty history of buying up American steel plants, running them into the ground, and then closing them.

Lets see how I should respond. I thought some people might like the paint job dedicated to our military men and women. I made no comment about the company although I do know the company provides work for many and it keeps the Cleveland Works Railroad working. That said, I am sure you support the current socialist adminstration which needs to bash business no matter who it is on a daily basis and will soon require you to share your wealth because its fair. So leave my pictures alone!

Wayne,
No, you are quite wrong in your assumptions. I'm a rock bound capitalist with no use for the current administration. My comment was that it's interesting that a foreign company is operating almost all our steel mills, and has no problem shutting them down when they have drained them of all productive capacity. Ask the people at the Bethlehem Works and LTV in Illinois what they think of Arcelor Mital Steel. It's a nice engine, with a nice paint job, but I have a hard time accepting that the company is as patriotic as the workers.

All businesses do whatever they can to minimise government extortion. This is worthy of praise, not condemnation... unless, of course, a person financially benefits from the extortion.

Nothing can run a business into the ground better a union... ;)

This VFW loves it! :)

Take Care,

Keeping the politics out of it.........I love the paint job! I wish more railroads would show some more pride in the country and their business to create some rolling works of art! I just hope they (Railroad) keep those Units clean and orderly looking for the rest of their career's!
