My wife was in Burnett(spelling) and has a train outta Austin today at about 6:45pm coming back to Calif. She got to the station early to find that the train had been delayed until about 9:pm. She and her daughter went into town and fooled around, and when they got back to the station, found out that now the train isn't expected till about 1:30 am. Seems a freight along the line ahead of the Amtrak somewhere, hit a big rig and has everything tied up. Anyone know anything about it?

Finally got on the train at 10:30pm, so about 3 1/2 hours late, then had about a 1/2 hour delay around Phoenix because the police had to remove a car from the tracks. Surprisingly, arrived in Ontario and was only about 45 minutes late from the original arrival time. I think they spent less time in San Antionio then they normally do, and made up time elsewhere. The wife took a train trip to Washington state a few years ago and had problems, so trains and her are kind of a hassel, but she absolutely refuses to fly.

Glad she made it back ok.

As an aside, the Austin Steam Train runs a train on many weekends called the Hill Country Flyer which goes from Cedar Park to Burnet and back. If she timed it right, she could ride from Burnet to California on a train, with just a couple of short walks or cab rides.
