HI, I'm in Tempe, but in N scale. I was just accepted into the sun n sand bunch in Scottsdale. I signed up to run on one of four available tracks with the club, president. Drove our today to run my trains, and was told by some bum in the club that I couldn't run, as I didn't sign up, so I left. It's a shame to cause they have a great layout, but this one guy has been a pain since I first went over there. I know several guys who stay shy of clubs, and now I'm one. Hope you have better luck than have I.
I was a member of the O scale club next door, for about a year,so i know club Politics. Our president at the time, was a old man who had no business there in the first place, There was two members there who had good stuff, and i was one of them, well being only 20 at the time, i was not liked very much because i would run my trains,at scale speed, and have scale cars. They would tell me I was to serious, well yes i am. The Layout is a peice of crap, and when i would bring my amtrak superliner cars,They would throw the frogs, and derail my cars, also when i had my big Northerns on They would draw so much current the layout would overload, and the HO guys would come and wine. The scottsdale park in general is a JOKE, in my personal collection i have better artifacts then they do. I even interviewed for the curruator inside there musuem, but i was told.
"no thanks we need someone who looks like a old railroader"
What i can say about the club, i am building is In chandler,Its going to be a Ho club on arizona landmarks, such as Picacho peak,Johnson canyon, and the phoenix station, just to name a few. There is requirements, because i dont want thomas the tank engine or Non protoypical crap on my layout, There will be a dispatcher, and train orders will be given. just like the real deal. Yes im crazy lol
Pm me if you are interested.
I love N scale, but its just too small
