I'm looking to add a decoder to an HO Athearn Switcher (SW1200). I purchased a small Digitrax decoder that is compatible with Z,N, and HO. Since there is very little room inside the SW body, would the best bet be to place the decoder into the cab of the engine, and covering it with some styrene?
Adam, there should be enough room to mount it right on top of the motor. Just wrap it with some kapon tape and use the thinnest double side tape you can find. I found a product at a crafts store called Glue Dots and they are really small but stick like iron. Probably three of the Glue Dots would hold the decoder on top of the motor.
Good advice, thanks for the thread guys.
Dave
