Hi there yesterday I bought 2 kato honscale locomotives one Ac4400 and dash9 what are the best sound decoders for them thank you in advance.

I would go with an ESU decoder, version 5 then download project files for each loco from the ESU project download page.

I also vote for SoundTraxx sound decoders. Avoid Digitrax since their prime mover sounds can be weak.

I've been emailing with Streamlined Backshop, trying to determine the best decoder for my project. Bryan was very helpful and will load your decoder with appropriate sounds. This looks like it would fit a Kato: https://store.sbs4dcc.com/ESU58821LokSound5DirectNMRADCCSoundDecoder-AT-StyleAdapterBoard.aspx There is a similar decoder coming with integrated KeepAlives. He also has Zimo sugar cube speakers.

I decided to go with ESU because as near as I can tell, they are currently the only manufacturer with sound and nonsound decoders that are completely compatible. All the brake functions work on both sound and nonsound decoders.

The sounds are almost identical, so that would work. If both have the same layout, like a spot for a speaker in the fuel tank, then the same decoder should work in both engines.

Both have the same engines I believe the only difference is the traction motors.
