I recently ended up with a spare Athearn GP60 body, taken from an undecorated loco. I had removed one of the front set of steps,to fix a different body with.So I had a body that was unusable. After looking on RailPictures.Net, I saw a photo, taken at the NS shops at Altoona http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=162157&nseq=9

So I took a razor saw to the body, put some decals on, and ended up with this;

Looks pretty good, I've seen locos hauled on flats like that.
A company I used to work for hauled dash 9 bodies on trailers, looked pretty cool going down the highway!
Here's what I did with an old loco that wasn't up to snuff.

Great idea, Ron. You probably want to add some scale blocking and chains to hold that hood on the flatcar though. Wrecks like this get hauled by to either EMD or a big railroad's main shops for repair parts of rebuilding into new locomotives.

Thanks Jim, for the tip, but I just wanted to have the hood on a flat car, as they are in the Altoona shop photo,just on a flat car for storage outside, rather than being shipped anywhere.
