A few layout videos

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Fantastic vids. Love the scenery in the second one but always like to watch switchers at work. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all....

The "region" is the Oakland/Emeryville area around 1955-ish - I still have lots of scarlet/gray locos to repaint to Black widow colors. I have a section that is like Contra Costa County with small towns and rural areas also. I gave up making stuctures that are exact. So they are for the most part just "representative" with artistic license, so to speak.

There really was a Sherwin Williams Paint group of buildings that resembled the model. Same with the Westinghouse plant - shown below.

And a video of an ALCo with some reworked REA reefers running near the Westinghouse plant. The ALCo needs repainting into tiger stripe colors.

Neat. I live in the Bay Area right now, so I'm familiar with those areas (although they probably look pretty different now than they did 60 years ago!).

If I ever get to set up a permanent layout, I'd like to model it based on the more rural parts of the California Central Coast.

Emeryville was filled with factories actually making stuff, once upon a time. For many folks it was an "eyesore". But to railfans it was glorious! We had the SP, Key System, Oakland Terminal Ry., Sacramento Northern and Santa Fe all crowded in there.

The Central Coast would be nice too! Especially if you like strings of PFE reefers. There's a fellow in Germany that does that area on the SP. He has a thread on this website.
