We've all done our share of engines, cars, building etc. Well I wanted something different, something I've never seen done in HO. So here is my progress so far.........................

This first picture is an actual BNSF engine that was damaged, and I will assume is headed back to be rebuilt.

This second picture is the BNSF engine that I am doing. I know it is the wrong Heritage paint scheme, but it's close enough for my purposes.

This is the basic disassembly done.

Now the fun started. The good old dremel tool, knife saw, and x-acto knife got a good workout removing everything seen in the foreground.

The last one for today, the engine has been painted black everywhere it will be getting rusted. I also added interiors to all of the cabinet spaces that don't have any doors.

Added this one after the base coat of rail brown added.

Disclaimer!!!!! This is no way is meant to offend any BNSF fans (Josh :) ) in any way.

Interesting wreck, Jerome. Any idea how it happened? It almost looks like something fell on top of the engine, just behind the cab. Whatever it was must have been fire, since the cab is burned from the impact point forward, most unusual since the rest of the shell should exhibit fire damage if the fire started from the engine's fuel tanks. I'll be interested to see how you reproduce that fire damaged paint on the cab and nose.

Jim & Jerome, from the looks of it to me, either she knocked something down into the Dynamic Brake, or, when it wrecked, the Dynamic Brake was in heavy use, which would make it very warm.

That'll be a neat model!

Here's some more pics.

These were the locos involved in the May 17th, 2003 derailment at Matfield Green, KS on the BNSF Emporia Sub-Division

Rotor,

Thank you for that picture!!! I know there has got to be more out there. I really need the other side, but I'm using a bit of modeler's license on this. Here is todays current progress.

Well, I think the engine part is finished. If I do any more to it, it'll just be overkill. Once I get the prototype flatcars in the mail, I'll have the completed model.
