Some one asked me a while back about "Modern" power in 55n3 here is my findings on the D&RGW K-27 in Scale55:
The Bachmann On30 2-8-0 matches the K-27 plans in the June 1973 Model Railroader.
It has been done in Large Scale, I never realized that the Bachmann 2-8-0 was converted to a smaller scale K-27.
William D. Hemmeter/Dave Fletcher have done it in Large Scale. Their article can be found at:
http://archive.mylargescale.com/articles/articles/k27/k27-01.asp
The On30 Bachmann 2-8-0's are going for $90 so you could have a 55n3 K-27 for under $200 easy.
What is 55n3:

We will have more on "Modern" narrow gauge in the future.
