I can't find any color photos of the flooring in older boxcars. Did they paint the floor or leave it a natural wood color? I made up this experimental floor in Photoshop as a guess -- and printed it on Kodak paper to fit this Intermountain car.

Does this seem to be the right color for a nearly-new car circa 1955? It comes with simulated planking molded into the floor, but in the boxcar red color. There's a little seam on both sides that allow for a thin verneer to be glued in.

I really doubt they would have went through the trouble of painting the floors in a boxcar since it would just get all scratched up and dirty. The interior walls in photos I've seen are either white or seafoam green. More than likely though the floors would just be natural wood color.
