I have been working on this 1948 Hudson for a few days now, She is working great and looking good, now if I could only find an original Tender with smoke unit in it. Just because they are 60+ years old does not mean they should be this hard to find LOL! Updated it with a knuckle couple up front as well, might try and make it DCC, still have not decided.

A little more info please

Hoppy:

Please let me have a little more info about your Hudson. Is it an AC Gilbert make? I may be able to move your project along as I had (and still have) one of those that was probably in the same time frame. I'm not sure of its condition, but if my memory is still viable (!) it looks similar to mine.

OH' I thought ya said a 1948 Hudson :D

If that's the AC Gilbert HO Hudson - don't bother trying to go DCC with it. I have one and looked at the prospect - in order to go DCC you have to isolate the motor from the frame and I don't see any way to do that. Also the smoke unit is in the engine on the HO model and not the tender. The tender is used, however, for power pickup. The tender is easy to put in a KD#5 coupler; didn't bother with the pilot coupler.
