ModelRailroadForums.com is a free
Model Railroad Discussion Forum and
photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.
When a friend of mine offered to print a model for me I jumped at the chance. He then directed me to Thingiverse, where I found an HOn30 file. My friend upscaled it to O. I think that the resolution of the printing (is there such a thing?) should have been increased. Anyhow, it was a learning process and didn't cost me anything but the time.

That’s a great looking boxcar!
well done!
Interesting car, has character!
I love seeing something that is different to the normal. Adds (as Rico says) character.
Well done.
I've been designing and printing 3D for a number of years, first with ship model "stuff" and then got back into HON3. For optimal results The design should match the printed scale. Generally is more successful to scale items down though sometimes small items such as grab irons etc may be lost. For practical reasons a smaller scale design will need such items to be drawn overscale. The .stl file will be scaled and sliced to meet the printers resolution and he would have upscaled it in the slicer. Chitubox is a popular free one.
Good luck with further adventures! Tom
