With all the new hype of the x4014 I thought it would be cool to put together a 1:87 scale model of the

big boy.
You may be working on that for a while.......

Yeah I think your right. I was looking at it and its going to need a lot of paint and maybe some weathering.

With your electronics background, you could do some cool lighting effects. post your progress. Looks like a fun project!
VERY easy kit to build. Most who bought it JUST wanted the tender to go in back of their Bowser Challengers and Big Boys.
I built mine way back in the mid 80s. NIce display piece. Wheels won't roll but lighting would be possible.
Yes a rather simple kit. I had two and gave one away to a recently retired friend as a challenge to do. I keep eyeing the remaining kit to detail up but not sure I want to undertake that yet. Too many other projects in the fire.
I built one of those kits about 15 years ago. I may need to find it and detail it up a bit more

Well a year ago May I said above I wasn't sure when I would get around to my Big Boy but with the change of situation I tackled it. I sanded off the large side piping and replaced with piano wire. other than that, I didn't do a lot of detailing.

I have one of these kits sitting in the pile of "stuff to do someday". I bought it a long time ago...
