    Marking the centerline (newbie question)

    I've watched a bunch of videos about laying cork, and it appears that everybody lays their cork based on the track centerline. What is the reasoning behind that? Why not simply mark one side of the track and align to that? I'm sure there must be a reason since it seems to be the universal...
