Wow quite a bit to consider. Does anybody know how the Testors airbrushes are? I can get them at a significant discount through my website. Would it be worth it or a waste of money?

I am looking to get into custom painting/weathering, but I am on a very tight budget. With this said, what would be the best airbrush for the best price? I am hoping bellow $50 but I do not know how realistic this is.

If both are factory DCC my guess is that the decoders are buggy. It should be covered by warranty, however if you got it on eBay or second hand then usually the warranty is void. then you have to buy a new decoder. I hear tcs makes a good steam decoder as well as diesel. If you want to go that...

Are the frames for the Kato sd45 and the sd40-2 the same. Would a sd40-2 she'll fit the sd45 frame?

Yes. I submerged it for 4 days and did not get all of it off.

I am trying to strip the paint of a Kato sd-45 to repaint it is the NS paint. I have tried rubbing alcohol but that didn't work. I have seen on YouTube people used pine sol to strip paint of plastics and I was wondering if this would work.
