    Milwaukee Road SD10 build

Here's a sneak peak at, "The Tens." I changed the number of the 550 to the 545 after receiving information that the 545 was assigned to Harlowton, Montana in 1977 and served on the Northern Montana Line. I have photos of the 553 serving on the NML in the late 1970s as well in an issue of TMR. :)...

    Milwaukee Road SD10 build

Patty had class tonight so I got some good modeling time in! (she's working on her masters degree) Tonight was all about paint. So, here is my painting for this evening. Then nice thing about painting your own models, is you can paint it according to the final vision of how the unit will...

    Milwaukee Road SD10 build

Hey there Trey. I'm not sure how many roads made use of the HORST air filters. But the only two I do know of were the IC & the Milwaukee. A very cool thing for us modelers! :) Steve, I'm not entirely sure of the difference, other than the external housing and duct work. On these rebuilds, I...

    Milwaukee Road SD10 build

Good eye, Jim! You are correct! I'll have swap that out! I'll have to take a closer look at the placement as well. Looking at this example, it was more to the front of the cab roof as well.

    Milwaukee Road SD10 build

Well, if the Milwaukee was well managed, they would still be here today. :) Managed to get some good progress accomplished this evening. That's the work for the shell and cab until finish painting is complete. Next we'll move on to the pilots.

    Milwaukee Road SD10 build

Hey thanks for the kind words, guys. I am enjoying these builds. I have two of them in progress. Not much time to work on them so far this week. I did manage to cut the original exhaust stacks off and am in the process of sanding the roof smooth prior to putting on the new DA stacks. Alco: Yep...

    What's your Best custom locomotive?

My best custom work to date would be one of these two: But, I'm sure will be replaced by one or both of the pair I'm working on now:

    Milwaukee Road 255 GP38-2 PROJECT

This is my first post here, so thought I'd share my latest project. --- I got the most significant part of the this project completed this evening. The frame chop. The Milwaukee Road GP38-2s had a VERY SMALL fuel tank. So, in order to model one accurately, the fuel tank MUST be cut down to the...
