General discussion, should I really put some nice kits onto my small layout or should I just use old kits from tyco or something? It’s a 4x8 layout
 
We can't/shouldn't answer this for you. This hobby, like all hobbies, is intensely emotional and personal, and is intended to help YOU to discover what you need from it and what your evolution in it is to be. Nothing we do in our hobby is cast in concrete; it can always be undone, done 'better', or discarded and thrown into the trash.

I would use both. Those Tyco kits can be dressed up fairly detailed and look much better than just the kit.

They can be re-used if you decide to build another layout in the future.

I would say build what makes it more enjoyable for you!
 


thank you both I’m just starting out in this hobby and just wanted to know what some people though😄
 
I had a previous layout before this and really wasn’t what I liked so I redid it and now I’m here
