Hello, I have had an MTH NKP Berkshire steam locomotive for just over a year now, it was brand new when i got it and iv'e never had a problem with it, until now. I have another MTH Steam loco (I am an HO scaler) that runs fine on the same layout and controller and does fine. My Berk's chuffing cuts in and out at certain spots in the layout while my Class J does fine. I think its a CAM sensor (i think they are called that) but i cant be sure. I sent it to a certified MTH Serviceman and dealer in Chicago and it did nothing for him. It ran just fine. I know its not my layout because i run it on other layouts and it does the same. I have several buddies at the local model railroad club that have MTH steamers older than mine and have never had this problem. It has protosound 3.0 and PFS. It s the 1990's excursion version. Does anyone have any idea what this means? Please help i'm frustrated with inconclusive google searches and phone-calls to MTH.
