Actually it's the language Tony Eury, Jr speaks. No wonder Junior couldn't understand him and couldn't win a NASCAR race.

Now JR is really confused................ He was just gettin' the hang of the new language.

ROFLMAO:D Funny now Jr. has to learn pig latin! Poor slob ain't got a chance!;)

You guys are a riot!! :D

Jim, an answer to your statement posed in Serbian, Да, цоусе радим!;)
I won't give up my source, no matter how much you tickle me!;):D

boB & Chris. Careful now, don't be pickin on that boy on the 88 car. You never know when some country boy named Bubba, Skeeter, or Billybob could be listening. Last thing we need is to get Flo's place invaded by some fellers that ain't quite housebroke yet. I could get some of the boys a bit riled up with my thoughts on NASCAR and the current state of affairs. I will limit it to this. If I was in Tony Eury's shoes I'd only tell Jr. 1 thing. FOLLOW HARVICK! :D:D:D

Anyways, closer to home, we got to do the building inspection with the home inspector. A couple of minor things, gutters need cleaning, kitchen faucet loose, 1 toilet feed line is wet, but not dripping right below the bowl (jam nut?) but there are 2 items we are going to insist get fixed. #1, the AC barely works, maybe needs service and the back basement door has a cracked glass plus wont open unless 2 guys yank on it. Other than that, the roof, foundation, heat and electrical all pass with flying colors. Were on schedule to settle on July 9th if not sooner!
Janice has consented to us getting a dog after we move in since the back yard is fenced. (the previous owner had a Lab) I'm not sure what we'll get yet, so far Golden retrievers, Australian Shepards and Shelties have risen to the top of the list. We did a little scouting around the neighborhood and there are quite a few German sheperds, black Labs and Chocolate labs already. I would really like a Beagle (had one as a kid) great dogs, once they get a few years on em, but as puppies they are hell on wheels! Plus that hound smell, SWMBO don't like it!
I'll check back later, gotta go decal a D&H coach!:)

lraK, having dogs all of my life, I'll give you a bit of advice. Labs are among the smartest breeds known without a doubt. I had one that lived to be 17 years old and hunted when he was 15. Best damned flushing dog I've ever hunted behind. And that includes those that were owned by guides!!!

Labs, along with your other choices, are high energy and need exercise. I'm mot talking playing in the yard exercise. I'm talking taking them to a field, letting them run until you have to carry them back to the car type exercise. And you'll be a part of that. If ya ain't got the stuff, don't get the mutt.

Beagle, and other scent hounds, are friggin' idiots once they get their noses to the ground. They won't listen to squat!!!!

The best thing to do is to evaluate your lifestyle, determine what you want in a dog, then narrow the field. Owning a dog just because it's chic doesn't do you or the dog any justice.

So many people get dogs then realize the dog isn't for them. Bad deal. My old Labrador was even a rescue. It may be better and even prove you are a nice guy when you decide on a dog to get one through your Humane Society.

A lot of good dogs have been surrendered because of hard times. Not a good deal for the animal and a lot of people are truly brokenhearted having to give up their dog. In many cases, the pet is not "just a dog" but a member of the family in a sense. Ours are. Hannah and Otie have been a source of diversion many times. Now the other two have joined the pack, just more icing on the cake.

Don't buy from a pet store, but a reputable breeder, if you choose not to adopt a dog. And don't buy from the Amish!!! These folks look at dogs as livestock and have no idea of proper breeding. In it for the money PERIOD!!!

Enough of my "Owning a Dog" speech. I'm pretty much into the responsibilities of dog ownership, owning two "rescues" myself, besides our "regular" two. I'm a BIG dog lover.

I hear ya loud & clear brother! My 1st dog was a beagle, and you're right. Once he got his nose to the ground, there was no stopping him. My next dog was a yellow Lab. Gorgeous dog, lots of energy, but dumb as a brick. My Dad had a black Lab at the same time. I swear you couln't tell they were the same breed. His dog was smart, Dad swore my dog was retarded.

Growing up next to my Uncles farm I was also exposed to other breeds. German Sheperds, Blue tick hounds, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, but my favorite of my Uncles dogs was Santa, the Great Pyranees. Big fluffy sweet buddy. Him and my Beagle were great friends, and God help the neighbors Doberman when he got loose and picked a fight with the Beagle. I guess he didn't realize until it was too late that Hell was big, white, and fluffy!!!!

As far as rescue dogs, I've also been looking at that too. My sister in Carolina has a Rhodesian Ridgeback from a rescue operation. Sweet, smart dog thats not too big or too small. (I wont have a dog smaller than my 16 lb. cat) Still, SWMBO has pretty much written off any breed that has that musky hound smell. I'm also not above just getting a pound mutt. Sometimes they can be a better fit than any purebred dog.

lraK, I'm glad to see that you have a both a bit of experience with dogs and are taking the move seriously. I do a bit of volunteer work, and one of the places that I volunteer is our local Humane Society. Another is a local food pantry, but that is another story.

I've seen dogs that have been surrendered, or confiscated, come in that are in need. Be it abuse, for family economic reasons, whatever. For being a crusty old fart, my heart goes out to these animals.

The Humane Society here is "no-kill", and competes with a "kill" facility operated by the city/county. The HS has no building, but depends on people to foster the animals. That's how we got our last two Boston Terriers. Shylah was an Amish "puppy mill" breeder that had refused to breed and was going to be put down by the farmer. She had a hernia that covered the her entire side, had no integrational social skills with other dogs(probably from living her entire life in a cage). She would spend the entire day sitting on the couch or on the bed, away from the other dogs. She has overcome all of that and is now one of the "pack". Good to see. And she, s getting to be more like the others, has come out of her shell and loves "Momma" and really gets into a little of "Poppy's Lap Time". She still has a little bit to go, but she's getting there. It took us two days to housebreak her. That amazed me.

Baby, the other rescue and a larger Boston, weighed just 13# when surrendered. She had a severe sinus/respiratory infection. I honestly thought we were going to lose her the very first night here. We made a return trip to the Vet and placed her on Benedryl in addition to the meds she was already taking. Dried her right up within a few days. She does have a bit of an aggression problem with toys when we are playing, but is doing better with that. And she now weighs 27#. What a comeback!!!

As a note, the HS had an outing a couple of weeks ago. Angela made some "hula skirts"(I told you that this girl was talented!!) for the three girls and a "Don Ho" shirt for Otie, our only male, who also has a story, being born with part of his intestine exposed. Vet fix him up and you could never tell his auspicious start to life. Anyway, the dogs won "Best Costume". Otie looked like a Hawaiian pimp and girls looked like his "island hookers". I never thought I'd be one to "dress up" a dog. What the hell am I turning into?

And EVERYONE loves Otie, the most gregarious of the pack. He also won "Mr. Personality" at the HS outing.

All dogs will have some odor. Bathing usually fixes the problem as does diet somewhat. Does the trick for our dogs. Monthly baths and do I ever get wet!!! All seem to enjoy the bathing once we get started.

Owning a dog is a commitment. Much like raising a child. Teach them and give 'em a bit of love and they return it all unconditionally. Amazing animals. We take our dogs with us whenever we can. Vacations, on the boat(Otie is a great fish finder barking when we are on fish), walks, to the pet store, to the convenience store for pop or cigs, to "Grandma's House"(Angela's mom's house, a farm in Payne, Ohio).... The local BP gas station now has Milk Bones for customers buying gas that bring their dogs just because of or pups as does our bank drive up.

As for dogs that have no smell, many terriers fit the bill and will be larger than your cat. Otie weighs 37#, Baby 27#, Shylah 21#, and Hannah, our first Boston, 19#. Any "oil coated" dog, Labs, Goldens, Weimies, Beagles, Bassets, etc, will have an odor given time. Some long haired dogs seem to be extremely vulnerable to "stink". Not trying to push Boston Terriers on you, just saying.... and I'm not much into the "designer breeds".

Still, examine your lifestyle and energy level and choose a dog that fits. AS I said before, owning a dog because the breed is "chic" doesn't fit any purpose and is bad for the dog and the owner.

I've been out working on the van this morning while it was still cool (81 degrees). The brake lights now work. I had thought the brake light switch was bad but it turned out to be that the wires had been pulled off it. It was just a simple job (if you can call bending the arms at almost impossible angles simple) of pushing the wires back on their respective terminals. I tested the switch with the multi-meter first to be sure it was operating correctly. Couldn't find a thing wrong with it except that it wasn't snapped into it's rest properly. With one good push from both thumbs I heard it click into place. Once that was done the brake lights came on when the pedal was pushed and went off when it was released. Works for me. Now I'm probably gonna be busy for the next few hours untying the knots in my muscles. It was tight under that dashboard. I'll be in the back sipping on a tall ice-cold lemonade.

Sorry Bob, we have 1 boston in the family and he's enough. Her Aunt Peg has one that travels everywhere with her. When she visits my in-laws, the dog will repeatedly go to play with the cat. Petey is the same size as Midnight (in fact, they are cousins) and likes to sit on a dining room chair.

Heres a typical Saturday night visit:Dog goes to table and sniffs at chair, black paw comes out from under tablecloth and nails dog in the snout. Dog yelps and runs to hide behind "Momma". 5 minutes later Dog & Cat repeat procedure throughout the entire evening until cat eventually tires of the nonsense and either runs off to places dogs can't go, or, launches a "shock & awe" attack that causes the dogs visit to be cut short.

SWMBO says no dogs like Aunt Pegs allowed. Unless I want to sleep with said dog, I have to agree.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking rescue dog or pound inmate. But NOT til the move is over and life has settled back down.

Irak- How big is the backyard? Ours is 150 back by 75 wide i think. Anyways we currently have 3 dogs and for the most part i couldnt ask for better ones. Ill agree with everyone else on the Labs, we have a black lab and shes really pretty smart but extremely oppressive. The dog figured out how to climb onto the chair while my dad was in it, lay down, and roll herself over and onto her back so that she was sitting in the the same position as my dad- perfect place for bellyrubs. We also have a Norwegian Elkhound. Not many people are real familar with elkhound but everyone that sees her cant get over how pretty of a dog she is. Shes a barker but also a cuddler and alittle lazy, but thats more in how we raised her than anything else, ive seen some elkies with the energy of retrievers. The last dog is a mixed up mess. Shes atleast part pitbull, part chocolate lab, probably has some beagle or other hound too. Anyways shes a real sweetheart. She loves to play with the ball, but she only has 2 speeds, energetic and playful, or off. When shes not playing shes usually curled up with someone or laying sprawled out in the sun. As bad as a reputation as pitbulls have, shes honestly one of the sweetest and best dogs ive ever had. Shes currently 3 (the baby of the bunch) and im hoping to get alot more years out of her and the other 2 as well.

Jeffrey, add contortionist to your resume. My flexibility has definitely suffered with age.

lraK, Otie and Baby are "Kitty Kops". The cats get into a tussle the dogs break it up and chase the offending felines to "neutral" areas. Other than that, they critters pretty much sleep together, and one has been "adopted" to the pack. Quite a group.

Unfortunately mine has too so getting into tight places like that comes at a steep price.

Let's see if you guys can figure out this language. I'll list the words in the spelling of the alphabet used for the language and I'll follow each word with the phonetic spelling in the English alphabet.
