Hey guys.....

I got me a part-time/seasonal job with Lowes! I'm not sure how many hours I will get a week but I'm going to get $9.70 an hour though:D Thank God:)
Congratulations, you need a financial break.

Hi Guys,
I'm still fight this darn cold with head congestion and just feel too bad to venture out much. It was fairly cool this morning at 48* inside with a cold mist outside. I feel rather
foolish talking about cold or cool when Terry is talking about 2*!

Say Terry My sympathy on your uncles passing, the uncles I had I never really knew other than pictures of them.

Take care,
I'm leaving in a few minutes. The updated forecast is going the wrong way, it's now supposed to be 0 and windy...

Thanks Guy's, Now it just a seasonal job and I might get let go in August 11. But I was told they can and do keep some of their seasonal help. I didn't find out what % of a discount I get but anything would be nice. I was told to my Hours for the week can be anything from 15-50 depending on store sales. But @ $9.70 an hour helps a lot(I make $10.10 with the county!).

My experience Running the Lawn and Garden Shop at Wally World is what landed me this job from what I was told? Sometimes those stupid crap job do make a difference in your life!

Good morning. It's 41° supposedly with a 30% chance of rain though I've yet to see any. The high will be, you guessed it, 41° with a 60% chance of rain. The weather guesser is talking about ice and snow again. He keeps that up and there will be a lynch mob waiting for him.

I'll likely be working today getting some clutter off the layout. A simple task for most but when you have only one good foot to stand on and a compromised sense of balance it gets a bit tricky. Most times I can lean against the layout and keep my balance that way but sometimes I have to hang onto the side of the layout with one hand while using the other to sort things out. I have to take breaks often. Try standing on one leg for a while and you'll quickly discover what I mean. When (if) I get a new brace I'll be able to put equal weight on both legs and increase my working time. That won't however help my balance. That's a constant problem that I've had all my life but it's gotten worse in the last twenty years due to complications from diabetes. Due to offers of help from other modelers it looks as if I'll be able to continue work on the layout. Scenery materials are what I need most and they've stepped up to the plate to offer what they can spare. Every little bit helps. I really appreciate that and thanks to all who have offered. You know who you are. I've often thought of model railroading as a hobby where those who enjoy it also enjoy helping others to continue in it or get others started in it. I've done a lot of both over the years in the form of giving people power packs, track, rolling stock and locomotives. Not the cheap stuff either. I've also received from others that often came unannounced and accompanied by a note of thanks for whatever help or advice I had given them. I don't know how many do this but to me they're exceptional examples of what the hobby is about. It's not just something to do for your own enjoyment but to also help others enjoy it as well. Well, I've bent your ear for long enough. Time to get on with the days business, such as it is.

Good morning, it's another morning below 0 again. Yesterday it got up to a whole 2*. I really can't wait for Spring to come around.
This past week I've been helping my brother remodel our bathroom, hopefully we can finish up today and be done. Gotta go, he's here.

:)Nice going Chris!:)
Many times companies will evaluate you and your work during a temp job and then bring you on full time. It would sure beat the heat and politics you now put up with. Good Luck!

Karl: that is one heck of a train running around. It certainly speaks well of the coupler manufacturer;):D.

Again, they are saying the "S" word for here. They are predicting a whopping 1-3" overnight. (That is equivalent to a Northern 12" :D.) Anyhow, I will believe it when I see it.

Rex, it doesn't beat the heat! LOL's I will be working in the OUTSIDE garden shop! as for Job politics, I worked retail before and the difference's between the Government job and The private sector job are night and day different you just trade one type of politic's for another! It's going to be a blast working for both at the same time!LOL's

BTW: I just had my CPR/Defib class and finished it today! Now if one of ya older retired folk have a heart attack I know what to do.......

Belly up to the bar and Order another Round!ROFLMAO!

Get one for me to i'll be right behind you ;)

Evening all, mad busy day today cutting up logs and this evening training at the fire station, all ladders and self contained breathing apparatus for 3 hours solid,,, ready for a few gallons of liquid now

Good lad Chris, enjoy the job :)

Hi All,
It was cool here over night about 36* and today is 58.6* with the expected low tonight to be 31* but nothing like some of you guys are getting.

This damn Cold of mine is still hanging on and the head congestion is no fun, guess I need to check what cold medicine I might have around, I've just been taking Asprin for it and that may not be strong enough?

Feeling as lousely as I do I don't have much drive to work on the layout but maybe?

Say Chris: Glad to hear you landed the job and like Rex said, with your back ground and experience there is a lot you can offer customers in the way of information and management will sure like that a lot as well as knowing when a lawn mower the customer is looking at is too small to really do the job and hold up or possibly to big for the individual to handle easily.

Take care and stay warm.

Saayy Chrris,
Yoou saaid;

The CPR is getting way easier these days, The new methods/Training are to get people excited and encourage them to learn and use CPR! The new Defibs are the bee's knees when it comes to CPR! CPR alone success rate is 3%, with a Defib 70-75% and the Defibs Talk you through the CPR! Bad CPR is better than No CPR! Remember if you need CPR! You are already dead, so if theres a 3%-75% chance of living..........It's way better than 0% and filling up a pine box.

For EVERYONE HERE,
I'm glad I get the training for free every two years, but on that note.... If you haven't been properly train I would highly recommend it! To learn Basic CPR/Defib doesn't cost that much when you consider the cost of not learning it, someone will benefit from it....may be a loved one! For God's sake learn it!

Ok fellas, here's a little tidbit to chew on. Over the last 12 months, I have purchased several sheets of Lowe's 1/2 inch shiplap foam insulation for the direct purpose of layout and module construction. Today, since I charged it all on my Lowe's card, I got a notification from them showing my foam purchases for the year. It seems that insulation is one of the things that you can deduct from your taxes!
So goes the addage that Model Railroading is fun!
Now its Model Railroading is Tax deductible! :D:D:D

What's sad, I'll get the Foam at a discount as well as wood and such! Oh the joys of working for Lowes! This job is going to be the bee's knees fer me! My train room will finally get DONE! ......as well as my layout!

I had my cold for over month now! My body can't deal with cool dry air! I need hot humid weather! I LOVE HOT DAYS! We have had some real warm days but no Humidity! I have to take hot/steamy showers to be able to breath normal again!

Try a hot shower and see how you feel? You might need humid weather too!

The reason the Manager hired me was cause of my extensive experience in retail in lawn and garden, and landscaping!! I meet the the department manager for the Lawn and garden! He looks to be in his early 20's, He heard of my experiences from the HR woman,,,,He had a worried look! I would! LOL.... any ways $9.70 an hour start out for seasonal job in Florida is GREAT! when the norm down here is between $$7.25 and $8.50. it's .40cents shy of what i make for the government! if they get me 40 hours a week. My Lowes income will be $80 shy a month from what I make from Pasco county! All I can say is I'm Happy about the Hourly rate! now the Question is.....How many Hours a Week will I get? I want 40! You haven't seen me sell mowers! All I can say I can sell a lawn mower to and Eskimo in the furthest reaches of Alaska:D;)!

25 hours a week will get me by....(anything over is Gravy TRAIN) i.e LAYOUT!!

Well my capt. morgan's Black Cash Spiced Rum and cherry COKE is kicking in a i get sleepies!!!!! See ya later!:p;)

Well, I see it; guess I will believe it! It started around 6pm and is still snowing here at 11:10pm. Not a big panic though, since the roads are still warm and tomorrow will be mid-forty. Pretty now but should be gone by noon :(.
