Nothing much. Having a lot of other stuff going on, keeping me busy. Did get to work a little on that Mantua logger kit. Got the chassis completed, except for wiring the front and rear engines together (DC only for now).

Would like to find an HO scale "cuckcoo clock" headlight to mount on the boiler front, rather than the pilot. That's what the Q used on their T-1 and T-2 Malley's. Walthers shows backorder on CalScale's. Nothing on ebay.

I cut and installed the extra real estate for the feed business today. It has a single crossmember supporting it, a 1-1/2" deck screw on each side, and is wood glued into position.

This ads a lot more area than I first imagined. The business might even get a rail spur off of the RhB main line at Litzirüti. Maybe. Probably landscape tomorrow after the glue has dried.

I'm sure glad I never throw my wood scraps away.

Almost finished. All the ground cover is finished. Now come the trees, and the flocked Walmart cheap-O conifers are not going to cut it. I'll be buying a box of Heiki, Noch, or Busch conifers to fill up some of this real estate. I also want to put in a gravel road to the chalet in the rear off the main road.

The Litzirüti Bahnhof finally got a parking lot they share with the chapel on Sundays.

I had a bare spot on the layout so I thought I’d try fitting in different buildings from the scrap box.
I settled on this one, I think it was originally the Walthers kit “George Roberts Printing” which has been assembled, chopped, rebuilt, chopped again, etc.
It will be an abandoned building once served by rail.
(pay no attention to “Wendy”, she just sort of appears randomly all over the layout)

Those big walls are just begging for some great big faded signs on them to show the age of the building!

Strangest thing happened, I am rewiring my layout and I jumpered out a section that wasn't powered and tried a diesel over that section, I came to a turnout and the loco derailed at the frog. I tried it again, same thing, it tried it really slow and the loco stalled a little, lifted up ever so slightly and derailed. I took the loco off the track and looked for the obvious, everything looked fine. I pushed a boxcar across the turnout and it went across fine. I pushed few various sized freight cars across and they went fine. I tried another engine, and it derailed, another engine and it derailed. I cleaned the rail thoroughly and tried still another engine and it derailed. I pushed a Kadee truck across the turnout and it rolled fine. So, with no other alternative, I ripped the turnout out and, luckily, I had another new Atlas turnout that was the same stock number and installed that, I jumpered the section again and the engines went across just fine. I put on my Opti-Visors and examined the bad turnout, ran a straight edge over the top and everything looks fine. One of those mysterious things...it's going out in today's trash....Lucky for me I had an exact replacement; because I guessing the closest hobby shop to me is well over 50 miles away.

I have a mix of Peco and Atlas Custom Line #6 turnouts on the layout. Every Atlas turnout I've had to replace was due to a high frog. I'd run a straight edge down the rails and they would stop every time at the frog. If you put the straight edge on the top of frog, the straight edge would teeter back and forth from one rail to the other.

I don't know why they can't be consistent in manufacturing. Some of the Atlas have been operating for years without problems, even from the steamers, but others are junk and were all replaced with Peco.
