They could but no one wants to pay the price for them to do it. Broadway Limited is coming out with one too but I guarantee you it won't be cheap.

Broadway Limited is producing the MTH 4 truck shay, not a 2 truck. It's about $700.

Someone, other than Bachmann, should be able to produce a quality 2 truck shay or climax. (The new production Rivarossi Heislers are excellent.)

A nice 4-8-2 Mountain might be attractive, as they were used a good bit by some coal-hauling roads. But the prices might be prohibitive, depending on the volume of models produced. Would I buy such?

Bowser made a good 4-8-2 kit (that was not the Pennsy M1 with the Belpair firebox). They can still be found new on the used market.

I know Piko have done the SP Krauss Maffei ML4000 in its first incarnation but I would like to see the later variant, one even survives for measuring up!

A decent Alco C415 and some of the larger six axle models from the same stable would be welcome too.

The Pioneer Zephyr beautiful set made by Con-Cor, I actually saw one a few months ago at a train show, hasn't been reproduced in 12 years. Now if Scales Trains came out with one I would snatch it up.

I bought one and the fourth car back then. I rode the original as a kid, so it means a lot to me.

I saw those "in person" at the hobby store all those years ago. I was really excited at first, but when I took it out of the box the finish did not say "stainless steel", in fact it very loudly said "painted plastic" so I passed.

A RDG camelback 2-8-0. Wood underframe truss rod cars with modern quality detailing (there hasn't been a new plastic model of a truss rod wood underframe car come out in over 50 years). A 34 IL and 36 ft IL wood gon. A 34 ft boxcar. A left opening door 36 ft truss rod boxcar. A 30 ft hopper bottom gon (even though coal was the major commodity hauled by railroads, there isn't a single appropriate wood coal car made in plastic).

I ain't keeping my fingers crossed. It probably won't be available until the end of the year.....or later, based on the message below.

Progress on our Shay models hasn't been forgotten. These have unfortunately been delayed, in part due to the bottleneck of the Leader and 4DD models waiting for decoders to become available. We have also identified during extensive tests that one of the gears in the drive train needs to be remanufactured and we would rather this issue that has arisen be fixed in production than to ship models that may generate higher than acceptable failures. We realize that this is not the statement that our customers want, but we take quality control very seriously.
