Some things in life are as unpleasant as they are inevitable…so today i did a little depression spending. I’ve got the turnout installed and loosened a truck screw on one of the tank cars which was derailing on one spot. It’s good now.
Ordered another one of these J52s. Been wanting another since they are easy to work on. This one was pre-owned and is fitted with DCC, although it is a cheap, no frills unit. Cost me 40 GBP. New releases are at 160 GBP and are way more detailed and modern. But, my cheap one won't break parts off just by looking at it. The tank pops off so it is easy to fit a decoder and stay alive. Like working on a car.
Received my pre-owned Hornby BR J52. Listed as tested in as new condition. I didn't know locos came with frozen bearings and tons of cat hair in the gears...
But part of the draw for me is the simplicity and hardiness of these things.
Mantua 2-8-2 Mikado from fleabay. Has a bent rod that I need to fix. Was stated to be running and I guess that's truthful if running means 1/4 turn. Oh well, another project to fix...
It is a beast at 800 grams. It overloaded my druggie scale. Had to use the bathroom scale.
I preordered this Broadway Limited consolidation a while back, just came in! Haven’t had a chance to try running it but it’s too pretty not to get a home in the display case.
I bought this HO brass Olympia (Gem) 4-4-0 off eBay for a future project. Plans are to remotor, super-detail boiler and back head, add DCC and LEDs, and paint scheme similar to MTH's O scale version.
I got a roundhouse, but I am almost sure it is N scale. So, I'm not sure what I am doing with it yet...
Some stuff for re-sell as well. But the jewel for me, was his Bachmann 4-8-4. Yes, I know, not the greatest runners (And are hard to fix). But this one is suppose to work and is DCC (And for 35$!), and I might be wrong... But it looks to have sounds! This would be my first DCC sound steam locomotive! I'm going to test it here shortly. But what do you guys think?
Well I tested it now (It was my bad. I have a Bachmann DCC command so...Had to re address it.), and it does! I am so thrilled!
It was a custom install, and sounds great! Now I just have one or two other things to figure out LOL.
Got some stuff in from DesktopStation. A N18 decoder, a HO EF81/EF510 light board to make adding DCC a lot easier, and a Kato DCC adapter board that allows wiring AUX ports to the board vice wiring directly to the decoder. I will be adding this to my ancient EF65 to make it run like my EF81 that can turn the reverse lights on and off separately. Originally, this didn't even have reverse lights, so I made adapters and wired some leds in.
After a year of searching I finally found the exact same Lionel train set I got on my birthday when I was about.....11....
Or 12 years old or so around 1972.
I need to research to find the exact year.
Everything looks to be there and maybe a little extra track.
O27- blue and silver war bonnet.
I'll put more pics when it comes.
If it was around 1972 that's the MPC era. Lionel was bought out in 1970 by a company I can't remember. The MPC era lasted from 1970-1985, then it was sold again.

Received the Kato n-scale ABe 8/12 Rhatische Bahn 3 car set.
Unfortunately, it sound like TV interference from an electric motor, or small blender. I've requested a replacement, so hopefully that goes smoothly. I have much plans for this.
