I did actually buy this yesterday, I'm not supposed to but they are hard to come by these days.

Stopped by the LHS on the way home from work to see if the $4.00 plastic had come in so I could finish my retaining wall. It hadn't come in so I got this $30 dollar boxcar. I can't let this become a pattern or they'll never tell me my plastic has arrived 🤣

Damage to both pilots which is exactly as pictured in the offer and described. One guiding truck is also separate, same as described, easy fix.

I just picked this up last week. My 1st BLI Loco. Its a nice model, I've been on the lookout for a quality gp35 for a while. Finally pulled the trigger. It's super smooth and sounds great!
I really like these keep alive capacitor's that manufacturer's are putting in these newer locos.
Great idea!

That's a nice looking loco, I've a similar (older) Athearn version which when I put the headlight on, looked like Rudolph the Reindeer, a quick body and glazing removal with a complete body interior respray of Aluminium acrylic paint solved that problem.

I’m doing my research on converting to DCC, planning to begin when the season changes from “cycle touring” to “model railroading”. I hadn’t planned to start converting locomotives or buying any RTR DCC units, but the second run of Rapido NPCU (cabbage) units caught my eye. I placed an order yesterday.

I also replaced my old wire strippers. They were pro quality, but are getting quite worn out.

What am I buying

1 RH #6 Micro Engineering code 70 turnout
3 packs of code 70 ME rail joiners

1 bottle Modelflex WC Maroon Arcylic paint

2 bottles #302 Panzer Aces dark rust by Vallejo
2 bottle #71.040 Burnt Umber from the Vallejo Air series
6 bottles Tamiya Flat clear xf86

Looking for to buy

3 new Athearn Genesis GP40-2L’s diesels to strip and re-paint for my new freelance railroad, must have Tsunami2 sound and front ditchlights and be the LED lights. There is currently a sale at dealers for the older units without LEDs, good pricing but by the time I change the lights to LED the costs are not worth it

2 Athearn Genesis SD70m diesels in the primed only scheme, may be pre-owned

The search for me is part of the Model Railroading is fun mantra

I haven't posted lately so I'll share some of my purchases since early May.
I just ordered the BLI GS-4 from Harris Hobbies with his "cash" discount. It should arrive by the end of the week. I ordered road number 4438 in the black.

All the other purchases are from flea-bay.

I ordered 5 of these Burlington reefers, all different road numbers to go with the 3 other cars I purchased at the National train show last year. This will make a nice string of 8 cars.

I purchased these hard to find early FT, Cotton Belt locos. New old stock for $130.00.

The Burlington 2-8-2 is a new old stock BLI Blueline loco. It has sound and I ordered a TCS 4 function motor control decoder with a keep alive attached for DCC running.

I have another of these caboose and will paint and add to my roster soon. Nice well detailed item with separate grabs and interior.

This new reefer sold for $6.95 plus $4.50 shipping. I have 2 other of these cars and hope to use them with my Swift packing plant model.

I purchased these 2 units from E-bay as "new, unopened" items. Neither unit had any life at all on my test track but appeared to be brand new. However, the instructions had coffee stains and the box had been opened. I contacted the seller and he gave me a full refund and said just keep the locos. He said he listed them as new because they looked new. He also stated they were part of an estate lot and he was not a "train guy". I will still have to spend a couple of hundred dollars for ESU decoders and speakers but this whole ordeal could have turned out much worse.

Well that is it for now.
Take care....John
