What are you buying this Month?

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

I stated this once before but it seems the "what are you buying this month" thread and the "RPO, what arrived this month" have a serious overlap. Why not just make one thread?
The above post is about what someone ordered and what arrived. I really like seeing what others have purchased and received. But why not post what you have received. Surely you can wait a week or so after ordering to post what you bought....not what you are buying.
Not a rant here or griping just seems we have two threads ultimately resulting with the same ending. Why not just make a single post instead of double posting on the same topic.
Oh well..........just my thoughts. I am a person who likes to do most things only once. My time is valuable to me.

My thoughts as well, but last time I rocked the boat, some were not happy with me.

Gee, I thought I'd visit and post and the we get this rant . Sorry I dropped by!
If you read my post it stated "Not a rant here or griping". Why have two threads for one topic?????? Seems a waste of time to me.
Rather than getting the true meaning of my post it is considered to be just a rant........go figure.

Sadly, the hobby is full of grumpy old men who can't keep their yaps shut. Lets please get back to talking trains and the like!
As I was advised, you can simply scroll past what you don't like/interest you, and no, I'm not getting into a discussion over this, I have more important MRR related stuff to do.

Don't mate, it's not worth it believe me.

Go figure... I'm trying to. I always love it when people say no offense, or this is not a rant, and then complain or rant. I don't come to this forum often, and crap like this isn't what people want to see when they come to a forum. /adios

Merely a suggestion to streamline things a bit. I can't even find the RPO thread.
But some folks like going around their arm to get to their elbow.
Seems some folks just can't deal with a suggestion and have to label it as something it is not.
Smudge was the only person who gave a civil reply to what I stated. Apparently he got it.

Some people can't find, or won't try to find, one thread or another one. Some people won't look at a thread if someone they don't like started it.
Our site owner wants people to go to different areas of the forum than they usually do, and start new threads to gain more interaction.
There are enough different posts in each thread that they are not duplicated.
If you want to look at this thread, great.
If you want to look at the other thread, great.
If you don't want to look at either of them, great.
No harm, no foul.

This Tex-Mex and a few other cars came in the mail last week…

Mine is Athearn as well and came from Midwest…
Willie was yours an older release? I say this as the green on yours looks closer to prototype.

Well, let's see... a job to remove a bunch of rubbish from one side of the garage (next job from the other side next week). A ceiling fan to replace or augment the old one (34 years old); six fast-growing shrubs to replace the eight 34 year old evergreen trees that were uprooted by a tornado that sideswiped our subdivision (fortunately, no damage to the house); also paying a landscaper to cut up and haul away the trees, plus chopping them up. Oh, and two packages of Kaydee #505 coupler/draftgear to replace the flimsy ones on an old Con-con passenger car or two. The #505's aren't covered by insurance. For that matter, not all of the above was either!

A fairly long list: Air Compressor, Airbrush (DA), various quick connects, handheld water trap/air filter (jury out on whether or not I want to keep it or send it back).
A number of bottles of acrylic colors, thinners, brush cleaners...

A few thousand feet of floral wire in various colors (for tree and bush cores), and I'm not done I know.

All this goes along with the boxes and bags of flowers and flower tops I've been gathering for a couple of months, for use as ground covers. For N-scale, the most useful by far are those with the smallest flowers, which shrink further still as they dry.

"Cow parsnip" is one, but hardly the only one. As the season goes along and the flowers dry out, others become important too. "Doozy Spirea" is one of those--its tiny purple flowers dry and would otherwise waste away but for my harvest. I guess this make me something of a necrophiliac of the plant world. :-P

Other items on my radar screen: Ink pad printer (manual, not commercial), and perhaps a low power laser engraver for making print cliches in large quantaties, but bypassing the chemical process completely. Fast, even though the manual print process is slow.

What else...micro beads for wheelset bearings (an experiment).

---------

I'm pretty sure there will be more still. The important addition to all this is the TIME. Can't buy that unless I can farm out the jobs to others. We'll see.
