What are you buying this Month?

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

This will be among the few things I'll ever buy of WS products. One end with this and the other end will be plywood. Then I can draw my own conclusions on which method I like best.

All this talk of signals has made me hungry, so I'm following in Tony's footsteps.

But I'm not as brave, mine are pre-wired.
My Signals like yours are pre wired too. Was just the dwarfs I messed up on :) Don't forget to post LOTS of "wiring pictures"

Leaded LEDs are pretty easy to wire. Those little surface mounts, not so much but doable with a steady hand.

At that price it doesn't make much sense to wire your own. I'm pretty sure I'll be doing the same even though soldering little things is part of my job as a tech.

I don't wire my own, my hands aren't steady enough for soldering small parts,I have a hard enough job hard wiring decoders, so if it's not pre-wired, it stays on the shop's shelves.

I have the same problem but I somehow mange to do it right 50% of the time. The rest get melted!

Yes, but that's 50% waste of time and money, and their dead cheap, so why waste the effort.
I am getting that way too Chris - not shaky hands, just can't be bothered having to do it when I can get something already wired.
I agree, easier than us trying, don't know about you two, but there's no way I can solder a resistor and end up with it looking as small as the pre-wired ones do.

I built a Walthers Two Bay Engine Shed and decided I was going to light it so I used SMD LED's and SMD Resistors, what a pain in the rectum! I ended up using double sided tape to sit the resistors on so I could solder them to the wires. Oh, and I decided to solder everything in series so had 3 lights and resistors per wire and 3 wires to cover the building.

All I can tell you from that experience is -

NEVER AGAIN!!! :p:D

I guess I just prefer to be able to walk into a store, see what I want, pick it up, feel it then pay cash for it there and then and take it home with me. Just an old fashioned kinda guy you know, the kind that attracts single moms :) 😁
