I might regret this one, old red box roundhouse kit 😁

I really can't complain. The furnace is almost 50 years old, and replacement parts are nowhere to be found, lol. The heat exchanger is showing cracks, so the danger of Carbon Monoxide is high. I was quoted a little over $8K for a new furnace and chimney liner from the place that advertises heavily on the radio... I think they need to cover their advertising costs... when I ignored their quote, the "manager" called the next day saying he found an opportunity to save me some money the quote... Yeah, right. I didn't bite on the first quote and you immediately lop off a grand... And now you expect me to believe that your second attempt is any better?

Good thing I have friends who have friends who know people... I'm buying a 3-year old fuel oil furnace that was replaced simply because the homeowner wanted Propane instead. So.. installed, I'm looking probably closer to $3K.

It will be interesting to see if there is an appreciable difference in efficiency between a 50-year old furnace and a newer one.

I have a couple of the Roundhouse loco kits. I would like to add some detail to them and remove some of the cast-on stuff. Downside is they have brass drivers and pittman type motors. I can redo the motor but I gotta live with those brass wheels. Too many other projects that are taking priority over the Roundhouse locos. Work on my layout is priority ONE right now.
I have watched some individuals on YouTube build these kits in a couple of evenings. Just go for it ! 😃😃

I figure worst case I'll have a background scenery piece of out it - best case maybe I understand how a loco is put together, and crazy unlikely ultimate best case maybe I understand enough to replace a motor, wire for DCC, etc :p

OK, I lied. I bought a cheap mini camera that I intend to mount onto a flat car, and push it around, just to get the train's perspective for videos.

Slightly less than $20, for a camera with wifi, internal rechargeable battery and a slot for a Micro SD card. It also has night vision with built in IR illuminators...

The "grab it now" deal is over, but they're still only $25.

All in a cube about 7/8"

Time to develop the "bad section of town."

Strip joint,
Liquor Store
Bar (& Social Club) - (Metals Bank)
Private investigator
Tattoo Parlor ( Chop Suey)
Smoke Shop (Kwik Key)
I love Downtown Deco structures. While I don't have any of these specific kits, I have some of the same basic structures labeled differently. Randy has been re-issuing some older kits with different signs. If you don't already have experience with his kits, the secret is in the painting of them. The more time that you take painting, the better they stand out on a layout.
