What are you buying this Month?

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

BTW, your hat and beard are both better'n mine--I get this weird dark thing on only the left side of my chin--so I think I'll go back to a golf cap. I know when I'm outclassed. And I'll shave more often. :D

Okay - I give up, what is the RPO Thread? I can't find it anywhere ....
RPO

I've already posted in the RPO thread what I've bought this month (way too much) and now contemplating about getting two more Athearn Staley Hoppers, but one road number I already have. 🤔
But at £28 inc. postage.................?
Chris, still room for 2 more cars in the box I’ll be mailing you next week.

Okay - how obvious was that ... I didn't link an RPO Car with the topic of purchases. And I don't frequent the coffee shop as I firmly believe anything hobby related should be posted in the relevant hobby thread.

Anyway, thanks for clarifying it for me. 👍
Come to the diner to just stop in and say hello, it definitely doesn’t have to be train related there

Thank's, if I can find two more of these I may take you up on that. :)

I found these guys, never heard of them tho,' and their in Green Bay, which is your neck of the woods I think, what do you reckon, worth a shot?

Both SpringCreek and Enginehouse Services are excellent places. I have been to Enginehouse but have purchased online from both. Check the shipping. In Wisconsin there will be at least a 5% tax if shipping it to me. SpringCreek should not charge you tax as it’s going out of state.

Ok, thanks, think I'll get them and have them sent to you if that's ok, but I can't get into their website at the minute, wont load ??
I'll try again tonight when I get home.

I y'all don't remember or know, Ima planning on laying my own track. I got to thinking about it and figured just to complete a single main line twice around the room ( 2 levels ) I would need a little over 14K ties. ( 120Ft * 2 loops * 4 ties per inch ). Have a 60W CO^2 laser and going through the motions I found that it was a PITA getting the cut ties out of the machine. So, decided to get something a tad smaller and easier to deal with:

Northeastern is ~0.024 per tie ( bag of 750 for $18.59 ). So I would need 19.2 bags: $357+ just for the single main. Have sidings, yard ladders, industry tracks ... etc. Can put in 12"x16" flat tie stock in the thing and can 'wipe' the ties out. Should be here today/tomorra and I will find out if it actually works. If it don't, have other plans for it anyway.

What make, model is it? What was the price and where did you buy it from?

I am considering buying a Laser Cutter myself, if I can find one for a reasonable price :)

Tony: Sculpfun S9 Laser Engraver 90W 0.06mm Sharp Laser Focus Engraving Machine Cutter

Couldn't turn the bold off ... anyway - $279 from evilbay. Note that the power TO the laser is 90W, laser is 5.5W with beam shaping. Supposed to cut 15mm soft wood. My thought was the CO2 is really overkill for this. Well, suspect that it is NOT gonna cut 1/2 stuff, but ties @ 4mm or 5mm *should* work. We will see.

Later
