Jim, cukes were done with a small rock casting colored green (plaster to keep it from melting in the Envirotex Light) over which were poured a package of Evergreen .020 rod also colored green and cut to random short lengths. The rock casting provides the bulk which the Evergreen the detail.

I received this in the mail yesterday from a modeler in Canada. It needs a couple of minor repairs but nothing I can't handle.

Steve, they still survive. The 2 sharks, D&H #1205 & 1216, are currently in storage in Michigan. Both last ran on the Michigan Northern in 1979 and they are in rough shape, with both suffering mechanical damage and the 1216 having collision damage to the nose. They are stored in a warehouse on the Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad and the public hasn't been allowed to see them for many years. I suspect they are both a total loss after so many years in storage unless someone with really deep pockets comes forward to restore them.

Here's another shot from last weeks show. The engine, B&O 5314, was originally built from a Mantua kit in 1972 by me and my Dad. After lots of use over the years, it got a NWSL gearbox and a can motor about 10 years ago, and was redetailed and repainted last year. Notice the tender? Like the prototype, it got a different tender from its bretheren. Can you tell from what? I'll give you a hint, the tender is from Akane

EM-1? Or it may look vaguely C&O-ish.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!
5314 and one sibling were, in thier last days, assigned to the Ambassador from Balto/DC to Chicago service. They were given tenders from EM-1s for the long distance run. I ran across a "spare" Akane tender and decided to put it to use!
Kinda makes it an odd duck, but I like it just for that reason!:D
