First shots of the "Turf Exchange", one of the bars across the tracks from the Como roundhouse. Entire front is scratch, always easier in O scale where building windows and doors to match photos/plans is possible.

Looks like the real thing! Holly !:eek:

Great shot. Thanks for posting

Got a bit more done on the Turf Exchange. Window and doors had the three bars mounted across them in the prototype photo. Also the window shades had the "Turf Exchange" lettering as were the pair of Schlitz signs on either side of the door.

The steel hoist tower for the blast furnace on the Cranberry Iron Works. Done in Sn3 this piece is 17" tall. Photo-etched brass bracing is an discontinued product from K&S, had to scour the entire country to get the 32 packages I need to build this and the cast house for the furnace.

Im starting to make progress with my first layout.I've been putting together some of my kits too. Here's a pic of a mine and also a newbee's attempt at weathering.

WOW! Some more great stuff everyone! You just keep raising the bar around here.
Nothing new to contribute this week. I'm bogged down on my elevated track construction and not much to show.....yet!;)

Painted up this old B unit (dummy) to try and match the A unit. Now that I am quite happy with the look, I will work on getting them to couple closer together. Replaced a missing horn on the A, but it still needs a few more repairs.

Got the top coat on the river and stuck down some ground cover and reed grass patches. I was looking to get the ripple effect of a gently flowing body of water and not a raging river. Came out ok and I'm happy with it. Hope the effect shows well enough in these pics.

Guard rail is made from Walthers piping kit. The stanchion posts are Evergreen channel on pieces of styrene. Just set in place before shooting the pic so glue hasn't dried clear yet.

Some shots of the Cranberry Iron Works hoist tower painted and weathered. Built both of the hoist platforms this afternoon so everything is attached to the concrete base and rigged.

The entire Cranberry Iron Works build has been picked up by RMC for a multi-part series of articles this year.

Added the wheel press to the Texas & Great Plains machine shop. This machine had to wait till the piece was nearly finished since it needed to attach to the roof trusses in addition to the floor.

i was looking at my layout and thinking of what I'm going to use for the sky back drop.....I came up with a matterial, but not sure of the sky print? Need Opinion on how it looks color wise. I know it's glossy thats going to be fixed Just does the color look good?

Chris- That doesn't look anything like the sky around here. Needs way more grey and a lot less blue. Maybe some big white flakes would help too.:p:D:rolleyes:
