I like what I'm seeing guys

Jeff the second shot looks more like a sunrise type of thing --love that approach

Ray That hydro pole with the brace isn't always modelled either. I also like the creosoted look as well.

Correy, the bridge comes that colour, and I just rusted it up with a mix of acrylics. I typically use mostly Burnt Umber with a drop of red and a drop of yellow. Then I cut it with about the same volume of water. Often, as was the case with this bridge, I eventually do it over with a more realistic rust once I find that it doesn't come out right in images under adjusted light or when the image, itself, is played with to look better.

Selector~ That FM H24-66 is a beautiful unit, great addition and looks the part on the bridge as well.

Jeffrey~ I agree with Corey, the second shot is really nice.

Crandell, a freight diesel...on your layout??? It looks great but I'm shocked.

Hi: Thanks for the comments.
Rob, I'm looking forward to seeing your club layout, the next time we're in the area.
Ray, those details are really worth the time and effort involved.
Crandell, great bridge and water shots. I think all the ME bridges make great looking models. I like what you've done with the stream. And, great addition to your roster.
Jeffrey, good luck with that new camera.

Suprduc, Jim, and DJ, thanks! :) I have actually had the FM for about 15 months now, but I am a diehard steam nut and don't image this very attractive and fine engine from Atlas. The layout is set anywhere between 44 and 57, so this surprisingly bulky engine, about as long a the PRR's J1 2-10-4, is a welcome addition. As a benefit, it is only several days on the job, so I don't have to weather it. :p

Crandell, I think Trainmasters were once voted honorary steam engines in a Trains poll so you're still safe. :) I've always loved those engines. They were the standard power for the SP commuter lines out of San Francisco for years and it was quite a sight to see 15 of them lined up together on a quiet Sunday. One of the engineers I knew said they were the fastest accelerating locomotives he ever ran.

Time for the Swap meet hauls...

Genesis SD70I, needs a little more work. I need a dynamic brake housing, and the battery boxes that go behind the conductor's side of the cab, plus new anti-climbers, and forwards lights.

Collection of covered hoppers, the first one will require a little work, the chassis is glued, and lopsided, so it leans...

This one is good... Just needs some details and weathering now.

This one needs new trucks, the Branchline axles are loose in the trucks.

This one just needs wheels (or maybe trucks) I have yet to open a new pack of Branchline wheels for this car, though I think I'll go with Genesis trucks.

Neat NMRA, PSR San Diego regional meet, 1988 car... $5!!

$3 AHM(?) Flexi-flo car, can't wait to strip, re-build, detail & paint this guy! I got a similar car last time I was there, these cars are neat, and just about the only models of them available...

Here's the phototype:
http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=30517

You'll notice that the prototype has two straight ribs, and the model has vertical ribs. Both my models have the vertical, and early Flexi-flo cars had the vertical, though I have not found a good, modern photo.

I entered with some stuff to sell, and $150 cash (Plus about $5 in quarters), and left with $135 Cash, and about 1/4 of the stuff I was there to sell. I left with the stuff shown in the posts, plus an IHC car dealership building.

I then went to the LHS, and proceeded to buy some styrene for a project, a two pack of Athearn 53' trailers (Schneider), and then stopped by the closer store, and bought two Boley mixers, and my wife bought me a BNSF boxcar with the new image logo for my valentines gift...

After ALL that, I still had almost $90!

Not a bad haul there Josh, nice work. The SD70I will look pretty nice sitting next to all of the BNSF that you already have.

I thought so too, it only cost me a "whopping" $30! Younger kid, ~15 years old, said he dropped it, was going to fix it, but its too much for him. I already removed the damaged lights,, dynamic brake hatch (which was bent), and anti-climbers, then replaced the exhaust silencer.

Only $30, wow. I am definitely jealous of that one. :) You'll have to make sure that you update your roster list on your website. ;)

Here is some progress on the diorama I am making.

It will have a lower level yard. Thanks to nmaniac I have some ground foam and stuff I can use to start scenery soon. Still have to pick up some ballast from the hobby store.

Finally had some time to photograph my latest project, painting an Atlas undec GP38 for Railtex colours (red/grey). It was my first major paint job, and for the most-part, it turned out pretty good (except for almost melting the waterbased paint off with a lacquer-based flat coat!). Here are some pics i took recently. Hope you like them,

Peter.

Peter, very nice paint and weathering for your first time. Luckily, mine was about 40 years ago and is in a landfill somewhere. :)

Dan, looks like the cork won't be going anywhere soon. Larry is an OK guy even if does model in that in that tiny scale. :D

Josh, nice little haul. Good wife you've got to get you a boxcar for Valentine's. I got a card. :(

John, I forgot to comment on your Diorama. It looks really professional all put together and set up. I'll bet it got rave reviews.
