I used centimeters for scale since it was easiest to scale on standard piece of paper, so 1cm=1 foot. The main track has about 35" radius, so pretty wide for a bedroom layout. My sharpest curve is probably the one where the tip of pencil is pointing:
And even 10 coupled steam locomotives are going through with no problems. Just above that curve are the bridges and the line pointed with a pencil is the actual secondary. That secondary goes down hill and makes a loop under right side of layout, comes under twin bridges, starts to ascend and makes reverse loop into the station. So i can run two trains continuously without colliding movements. The sidings to coal mine are not yet in place, the track is just resting on the wood in place. Engine servicing tracks are not yet in place, only that one coming from the turntable closest to the yard throat is in place and useable. Two tracks closest to the bottom are passenger tracks with the second one from the bottom for through trains. I hope that clears it up a bit more.
Right now the Waldenburg Midland is experiencing "low traffic volume", it will pick up as the winter comes.

Some time ago i purchased "Annie" from Thomas the Tank series. The wagons have beautiful spoked wheels which i needed for my other project. On Waldenburg Midland nothing gets thrown away, if it can be used. So "Annie" is now becoming the main switch tower at the eastern entrance to Waldenburg yard:
The steel pillars are from some bridge set which i've got as a present when still in school. Both the style of two axle passenger car and steel pillars fit my "steel and coal" theme.
I still need to come up with some kind of walkway and stairs to get into the tower. Other than that there will have to be added channels with hidden rods for switches or imitation of airlines since on W.M. many switches are to be pneumatic.I will also need to build up concrete foundations to raise the tower a bit more to have clearance for pantographs and catenary underneath.
The whole steelwork will eventually be painted grimy and rusty black. I used medium green in spray to change the color of the tower itself.

Here is a rough drawing of the railroad. Outside measurements are 15'x6'6". Sorry i didn't color code it, so it might be hard to decipher at first glance.

If you're going to build it, add at least half a foot in length, so your secondary going onto the bridge will have easier curvature. This way trackwork will not be so jumbled up and it will be easier to correct it to prevent derailments.This track plan is awesome! I decided to steal it without any remorse or regret (as always!).

Yepper, it's something along those lines, simplified.Sorry for derailing this thread a bit. I tried to draw my own plan of your layout (with a little help from Anyrail).

I finally decided to do some work on the railroad today. I went to Lowes and purchased this long LED since the layout room was like a dungeon:
Now the far curve of the station is lit up. Good thing is i can plug up to 4 of these together, so at a later date i'll get some more, install some plastic conduits to hide the cables and the room will be much more pleasant. Already a huge improvement:
Extra light was needed anyway, because i'm also running some extra bus wires to the far side of the railroad:
On the way the inner "8" loop got some extra wire and everything is running back to the main side near transformers:

Also found an inspiration for that cheap Bachmann signal bridge project, this thing was in Allentown, Pennsylvania:
Picture is not mine, but it was taken by someone who rode on Steam Rambles during 1960s and it was published in the latest TRP magazine issue.

There will be another track, that means both water and coal towers will have to go to the other side. That turns out to be more fotogenic anyway:
One of those tracks will have to be equipped with an inspection pit. And it makes sense for that first inbound track by the water and coal tower to have that. Other inbound track will be mostly on a curve, so that's just for inbound storage and possibly a water column before the turntable pit.

It's been a while, i just don't get into scenery like some others. But things on Waldenburg Midland have progressed today. Wire, news paper and plaster put to form some terrain around roundhouse area:
I guess a 24 hour period for curing and maybe tomorrow i'll paint the plaster in some earth colors. I also do want to form some rock outcroppings at the outside mainline curve since this will be one of my photography spots.
