Wabash Valley Lines Kits

Has anyone had any experience with the Wabash Valley Lines Kits? I'm going to start building a Yard Office kit and had a question about the shingles. They come in a sheet and there aren't any guides on how to cut them up. They are embossed on some tan colored paper ,there are 4 rows per sheet. Each sheet is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I think I know what to do, but not sure. The instructions call for using a contact cement but don't specify the size of the shingle strip. There are 6 sheets total. I've searched the internet and can't find any info on this. I've included some pictures of the material,I don't know if you can see the detail or not ,but it's there . Thanks in advance.

Got the kit built. I tried to shade the shingles a little ,but I got it way too dark. I don't think it's terrible ,but lesson learned. Here's a few pictures of the finished building. Well mostly finished. There are some details I want to add and maybe try some weathering.

I believe a light alcohol-India ink wash on the boarded up window lumber would be useful. Keep the washes light and let them dry between coats if you want darker results. Try to make your weathering light on windows and doors when you start, as you can always add more, but dark is hard to overcome.
Remember that details like barrels, etc. need to be weathered, also.
Be sure to post pics after you add the details and weathering, you have a great model going for your layout!

The India ink was one of the things I have been looking for, just for that reason. The shingles were done using a wood stain. I thought I had diluted it enough, but when applied ,well you can see the results. The wash on the boarded up window was also on the list. Thanks for the advice. A lot of what you mentioned was being planned.
