Well it has been almost a year since I did anything to the railroad. I considered removing it several times as I walked by and saw the unfinished mess.

Instead I decided to remodel and finish up the bench work once and for all.
For more detail see the blog at: http://georgetownbranch.blogspot.com

It is a little hard to explain exactly what changes I made but basically I reduced the depth of the upper deck on the right side and completely replaced the beat up fascia boards. I then painted the fascia with the same earth tone color I am using under the ground cover.

Her are some pictures.

The tunnel portal was engraved/cut on my CNC machine. I have a video of it on youtube but I will start a new thread.

The room looks amazing. Lighting is great. I will always recommend finishing the room before starting the layout construction. You want to have a comfortable place to work.

Thank you Steve,
It is a lot more comfortable to work on with the room finished. I also don't feel so bad if it just sits.

Looking good there. Glad you decided to finish the room and not rip anything out. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

I guess this is my yearly update, time flies!

Here is a prototype shot of the Dalecarlia tunnel. On the model I am running a passenger Geep but
they did run them on the branch a few times.

This was my first attempt at using the "Fusion Fiber" scenery material. When I originally purchased it at
a train show it was called "True Scene" and the bag of material sat on the shelf for a couple of years.

Here is the E.C. Keys Warehouse and coal trestle. Served by a single track that ramps up a 4% grade
from the branch line, the warehouse was used for general construction materials.

The warehouse is just a temporary cardboard cutout and the coal pit will be weathered down once
I build and install the coal trestle.

Both walls need some abuse! LOL they look to clean, the upper wall will get a railing as well.

The branch ends in Georgetown, Washington D.C., at Georgetown Yard. The team track yards were divided into the "Old Yard" and the "New Yard".
Here I have poured all the concrete for the New Yard and K Street. Wisconsin Ave. starts to ramp up the steep hill in Georgetown at the end of the yard on the left. The Old Yard, is in the background.

I used EasySand 45 mixed with black powder paint for concrete. Mixed to a thin, pancake batter consistency, I had about 14 hours to carve the material. I milled a "flange cutter" from aluminum to slice the flange ways.
