Train collection purchase.

Ill be updating with pics and lists as I go through the stuff.

So I picked up the train collection today that I had made a poll about around a week ago.

Figured id make a post to show some pics and a list of everything there was. There ended up being more then what the guy told me about as he found more stuff in his basement. There was 35+ engines 100+ rolling stock new & used. The stuff that is used looks like it could be new.

There was a little track, a building kit (walthers) and a couple older power packs. Also little stuff like detail parts, couplers, ect.. The majority of the collection is L&N with some various other road names in the mix.

Alot of the rolling stock is hoppers, with some flats, boxcars & misc.

Im still sorting and makeing a spread sheet for everything so i can keep track. Ive already taken out what I want and the rest will be offered up for sale.

Heres something neat a Ole walthers gas electric kit with wood roof. Its powered and runs pretty dang good. The build job leaves alot to be desiered. It appears to be all there and very restorable. May need a new roof made for it but that would be about it.

Looks like a collection that I got in 1988. My purchase had a lot of Kato, Stewart, Mantua, Con-Cor, Athearn, Bachmann Plus & many others. It's amazing what you can find w/a little luck. I got 47 engines & 160 pcs. of rolling stock, books & VHS movies.
Everything I got was brand new in the boxes w/Kadee couplers. I traded 177 Hotwheel vehicles & $350.00 cash & I still have most of it except all of the steam engines, which I have sold over the years.

If those 11 powered Protos are new, even if they haven't got sound, they add up to more than 600 bucks. Good deal no matter how you slice it. Congrats. Depending on your taste and what you want in your hobby new is new and as long as it suits you that's all that matters. With all the progress in technology and super details we have available now the state of the art will be replaced in a year by new state of the art. A person could go broke or crazy or both trying to keep up.

Depending on your taste and what you want in your hobby new is new and as long as it suits you that's all that matters. With all the progress in technology and super details we have available now the state of the art will be replaced in a year by new state of the art. A person could go broke or crazy or both trying to keep up.

Some appear to be new some appear to be lightly used. But im gonna call em used just to be safe, for the stuff that gets put up for sale.

Looks like a great deal for $600 but you might want to run those blue box P2K models to check for the infamous cracked gear problem. I have all the ones on the right side and every one developed the cracked gear issue. Never had a problem with the E units though.

After you've gone through them if you decide to unload a GP30 I would be interested. Also one of the replacement gear sets to go with it, just in case.

well so far ive sold 10 out of the 39 engines and made about $450.00 I traded 4 of the engines & the chassis to a friend for a UP challenger with dcc & sound and to have 3 rivarossi steamers repainted and tuned up.

10 more engines end on ebay tommarow evening. Ive kept the 13 athearn engines & the one walthers.

sold only 4 pcs of rolling stock for about $30.00 as i really havent decided whats staying or going. Id like to have kept it all but thats ok.

Ill have another update tommarow evening.

So so far ive made about $480.00 off of 14 items and there was roughly 150+ pcs. So im only $120 away from braken even. It was a pretty good deal in my book lol. I was gonna keep the 2 SW9's and do a repaint but decided not to for various reasons. Im getting rid of more then i originally planned because i got a recent dr bill that was quite a bit more then anticipated.


Also i figured out that the 2 stewart F3 A/B sets were the ones with kato drivetrain in em so that was sweet.

yeah all engines except a few athearns are sold, Between here and HOYARDSALE i only got a few replies on the engines, which i was quite shocked so they went to the bay.

had pretty decent luck between here and there with the rolling stock though,.
