Paint up an HO scale figure to look like yourself, then put it on one of those rail cars where you need to move the handle up and down to get anywhere. (Bachmann makes them) Tooter on a Scooter :D

I have a really old Roundhouse handcar...

Hey tooter, I was thinking about it, if that big hunk of dirt in the middle of your new basement is stable, why not build on top of that? If you have an aisle way all the way around (which it appears you do) I don't see why not. Instead of using foam to build your scenery you can use the readily available real dirt.

Hi thad, :)

That's a good idea...
...but I need that far wall completely free because that's where all the junk is going to be piled. ;)

Greg, I have 2 of those jointed guys that came off of a real motor driven handcar. I used the motor drive on a flatbed truck. Send me your address in a PM & I'll send them to you if your interested.

Got a hole in the middle of the floor... ;)

You know it actually wasn't that long ago when you could flush a toilet and watch the ties go by beneath you!
In fact some dining (galley) cars still shoot the grey water out beside the track which is why you never get close to a passing VIA!

Made a 24' flat car out of a 52'... :)

The trucks still need to be sandblasted to give them a cast metal look.
