Well, this year has been full of changes. Moved back across the country, new job etc... This also meant the end of the previous version of my layout http://bigbluetrains.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=472 or http://eastern-hills-southern.blogspot.ca/, it did go dormant for the better part of two years due to work.

So now on to the new layout, in the new wide open basement...

It will still be the same ERA of 66-72, with my own road running over some familiar Lehigh Valley territory and names. A big thank you to Bob Sprague athttp://www.annapolisjunctionrr.com for doing the design as I was a little stumped. Track will all be code 55 atlas, on traditional cookie cutter bench work with signals and detection along the way. More to come soon.

Well with work getting back to normal, and my evenings and weekends free. Things are starting to take shape. My birthday recently passed and my oldest bought me gift cards to home depot, so lumber shopping I went. The first section of bench work up is the branch line to Kingston on the left side of the previously posted track plan. This weekend I am hoping to get the bench work up for the staging yard. And if all goes well my order of track and switches should arrive soon!

Looks very interesting! We're doing some of the same relative area.

A friend of mine is in, doing the Central Midland layout, same size as HO, only with the Atlas code 55. He's told me that if he were to do it over, he'd go with code 70 if he could find it, or worst case, keep on, keepin' on, with Code 80.

All that room and you made a point to point? Widen the ends instead of the middle and you could have had both continuous running and point to point action. If you are "modeling" small rail looks good, if you want to see trains run, a more robust track would serve you better.

Bruce , a closer look at the plan shows a continuous loop option if I am seeing it correctly . I like the layout myself , it has good operating potential and the option for long trains just running through the scenery.

Roadbed is cut and risers installed on the first branch line and onto the Wye back to the mainline. Managed to get the first bit of roadbed installed tonight as well, tomorrow should be laying track and running the first section of bus wiring.

Well all the track on the left side of the plan is complete up to the red lines. All of the roadbed through Duryea is installed, and just waiting for a order of switches to keep moving forward.
