Installed another industrial siding on the layout. Tortoise on the mainline turnout and it's tied into the signal system. The single track splits into two tracks on the curved turnout and the whole thing is ballasted too. Not sure what kind of industry will go in there, but the old adage is, "build it and they will come".

Ken I posted this in another thread but I thought I should post it here to be sure you see it

Fair warning; I have been doing better and better and who knows I may be able to take you up on your offer to have me over! :) Lets see how I am doing after little league. I manage my grandsons little league team 5 and 6 year olds are fairly easy and I have lots of help. I most sit on the bench and shout instructions like Pay Attention! Be Ready! and RUN!!!

I sponsored an open house this past Saturday for the James River Division of the NMRA. I forgot that you were close enough to make the trip.
I'm kind of taking a break for a few days of building as I spent all last week getting things ready for the open house. Wrapping up a lot of unfinished little jobs, setting up the ops order, cleaning house and just worrying about what I might be forgetting.
My next task will be to install a TV in the wall by the work desk, so I'm thinking that through right now.
After that, it will be back to working on the mountain range.

Nice work Ken. Things are moving along nicely. Nice to see some scenery starting. It looks a lot better than all of the open grid work. Looking forward to the next update.

Better look out if I get into your area because I'll be knocking on your door. We try to make a new NASCAR races during the year and there are some races close to you.

Unfortunately I would not have been able to attend your open house last Saturday. I am busy with dismantling Christmas. I'm so slow and worn out I have to work a little bit each day to get anything done. I take more breaks then I do work, but at least I can still get things done. I won't let anyone help me if at all possible. My wife works so many hours the last thing she needs is more work around the house. I save my kids for when I really need help. Always keep your aces in the hole if you can.

Soon after Christmas is packed up and put away it will be nearly time for Little league. After that I hope to come and see you at your next open house. You have a magnificent railroad and I look forward to seeing it in person. In the mean time don't forget we enjoy your videos!

Don't worry about what you maybe forgetting, it will pop up or one of your guests will spot it, that is usually how it works.

As for your TV, you got to have a TV by the way, you will have good luck with that. I have always believed the keys too good luck are preparation and planning. You Railroad is a perfect example.

Not sure about here but, back in Oz we have a saying (excuse the French) :

Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance - the 5 P's.

I'm not necessarily a huge believer in sayings, but this one couldn't be truer.

I also think your right when you say that Kens layout is a very good example of the saying, as are a number of others here.

Wombat, you did not plan enough... there are 6 Ps. Sometimes is is written Proper and not Prior, but the outcome is the same.

:)

Added some more foam board to the mountain range. This has to be built a bit at a time as I can only reach so far across it to plaster and paint it.

Did some more ballasting this morning. About 6 feet of track or so, including the siding. The two tracks on the left are the intermodal facility. That whole thing is about 75' from end to end. I'm thinking of cutting it down some so I can install more industry sidings. The mainline is the track with concrete ties, on the right and wood ties on the left.

Ken - the "error" that I was referring to was with one of my posts - NOT yours. The "PPPPPP" post. I said there were 5 P's, when there are actually "6". Just seeing if anyone was paying attention :)

Ahh - here we go again it seems - I see where the confusion has come from now. BEFORE I posted that comment re the Error, I posted a response to your Video saying that I was left speechless and how great the video was.

Evidently that reply didn't post.

Great video! Your best yet production wise. You have had other trains I liked better but I really enjoyed the way you mixed the train views with the overall views. It made the video very fun to watch. I loved seeing the tanker cars waiting on the sidings and the TOFC cars, well cars even a steamer with passenger cars for excursions. I loved the diesel's horns as well, too many details to mention them all, great job! Thank you for making and posting this video!

I posted the same thing on YouTube, I'll freely admit; I am lazy.

Ken, your layout is truly inspirational. Long flowing lines, impressive scenery (and it is not done yet, wow), and your video editing is very well done. The sets of modern locos and rolling stock that you use is also impressive. Love the gondolas in that one.

I wonder, are you using a camera in a car that your front engine is pushing, or did you strap a camera to the engine?

I used a Samsung HMX-F90 cam on a flat car to do the cab view. It's just narrow enough to clear the track side signals. A couple of the tunnel portals were a little to narrow for it though. The cam clears everything height wise though.

Great video Ken. Excellent. I have seen a few of your earlier videos of trains moving through the layout, but this really gives a fantastic view and a better all over perspective of your layout. Looks about the same size of my camera, but mine didn't fit through the tunnels. Also looks like you got a lot more scenery going than I expected.

I did notice that you blew a couple of red signals too. Well done and thanks for the ride.
