The CP Rail Manitoba and Minnesota Subdivision lifts its skirt to show what's underneath--storage!

A post by Jason Shron of Rapido Trains on some forums last week ("What a wife thinks about our hobby") got me thinking about the subject of compromise--specifically, how we work with our families to obtain the space we need for our layouts.

You can find my thoughts, and photos--including photos of how my brother-in-law built one of this city's largest layouts while still allowing the family to use all of the basement--on my blog at http://cprailmmsub.blogspot.com/2010/01/families-and-model-railroading.html

(See photo below for how my brother-in-law's layout went through his son's bedroom.)

Very interesting John, I may have to send that article link to my wife. when she's in a better mood than lately.

I love your layout John. Just went through quite a bit of your blog to see all the different areas that you have incorporated. Great use of space on the layout and in the basement IMHO.

Pretty cool ideas for using space creatively. I would have loved to have a sound equipped Berkshire run through my son's room with the whistle shreiking to get him out of bed in the morning. :)
