Mornin' Bill! Is it Friday yet?

Nope!

Well I'm paked and will be heading up to St John's NF tomorrow to join the ship so don't wait up for me:D

Grande Man: I tried to post a pic for the contest this morning but it disapeared!?! I then noticed the contest is closed. Oh better luck next time. Still would like to know where the picture disapeared to?

Well that it for me.

Fergie

Hello Folk's,,,
hope your all doing fine,
My stupid pewter died over a week ago so i'v lost track of everything, just got my self a new Dell 5150, rather expensive on the wallet. Still got this chest infection which keep's turning into flu, i'v lost around 7 pounds in 3 weeks with it, it's a pity i'm not on a diet, back to the doc's again tommorow with some more samples. Today is our Matthews 4th birthday, he got some great presents and a very tasty cake.
The house is almost done, the central heating man is almost finished and the plasterer only has a days work, that just leaves the concrete floor to screed with bitchumen, however you spell it. just to cast a downer on things the natural gas meter had to be changed today and the meter owner has condemed the supply pipe which is a new one, he says we have to move the meter outside at a cost of over £1000, what's gotten me mad is the building regulations man say's there is no problem, but the stupid gas man has issued a condemmed notice which invalidates our house insurance, so he's got me by the ***** and i have to pay, like heck i will.

I can't do any Skypeing as i don't have a microphone yet.

Huuuuum. I'm not sure where it would have gone... Did you post it to the April Contest gallery? The Contest thread here on the forum stays closed, but the gallery is open for pics. I'd encourage you to try again, we'd like to see your pic entered!

Good evening gang,

It's been awfully quite around these parts as of late - spring fever I guess? As for me, I've been spending huge amounts of time in the train room doing scenery-related work.

Steve - Great to see hear from you, but sux about your situation with the bureaucrat:mad: - I think some of those guys have way too much power and abuse it at their leisure. About the 'putor: Wise choice, getting a Dell - I've been happy with all the ones I've had so far! Hope your health situation improves ASAP...

Fergie - I feel your pain on the photo contest submission process, it is mighty tricky if you don't do it often. One of the kickers is that you have to login a second time, then when you ARE logged in, get redirected to the main page for ALL photo contests and have to find your way back. I'd just post it to the regular gallery for the time being, like GrandeMan suggested [BTW Eric, is there any possibility this process could be made a tad more user-friendly in future releases?]

Time to go do the bumper-to-bumper thing, C-U-later!

Well tried as I may, tried as I might it was a no go so I'll have to wait for one in the future that grabs my fancy. Besides the scenery is a long way from done.

The coaling tower in this picture is now down and 600 nm away in St John's Newfoudland as I will be retrofitting it with a new chute overhead lights, markings and weathering.

Thanks for the invite. I've posted a couple of these in my Railimages account.

Well, believe it or not, there's a reason to the madness. With the pics in the gallery, they tend to stay around. If they were posted to a forum contest thread from a remote photo host they might not be there in the future if a new user wanted to check out previous contests. It would also be a shame to not utilize our own excellant photo gallery for the contests. That said, I do see the difficulty with the current set up. I wish users were automatically signed into the gallery when they sign in here. That would be something to throw Bob's way. The easy way to enter a pic is to sign into the gallery, close the window and follow the link in the current contest thread. Another way is to forget the forum link, sign into the gallery, scroll down to the current contest and submit the entry.

I'm open to any suggestions for streamlining the process. BTW, cool pic Fergie!

It is done!

I guess it didn't like the size of the pic so I resized it before downloading it.

So there you have it, though more scenery would have been nice:o

Good job. Got er moved over here too!

All right Fergie! Bout time somebody put a lashup of steamers for the contest. I would have done something but I have been busy laying new track and trying to get my Digitrax Super Chief Radio up and running and configuring the Old unit as a booster for the new portion of the layout. Not to mention I still haven't got decals done for my Road. I really like your logo BTW.

Got my lawn mowed for the first time this season today. The old thing started right up on the second pull and staggered through the hay field like a Barrymore........ It needed mowing a week ago but a couple of the neighbors were late getting theirs mowed for the first time and I have a "thing" about always being the last and the least where lawn mowing is concerned. Hey I mow it 4 or 5 times a year. That aught to do, shouldn't it? As it was as soon as I started the mower two other people a few houses away stopped in the middle of lunch and went out to start their mowers. One of them just finished mowing his lawn two days ago, but wasn't about to let me have the newest mow job in the area. LOL I live in one of those neighborhoods. :p

What really amazes me is that I am the only one around that doesn't hire one of those fertilizer and "kill everything but the bluegrass" companies to spray poison all over the place (Lord, don't people know that when you do that you have to mow even more often.......) and I have the greenest lawn on the block. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I figure if I am mowing lawn, that is less time to do some real "Yard Work"!

Night All!

Ray you need one of these, I can mow the lawn drink beer and talk on the phone all at the same time

showphoto.php

I'm heading towards the last mow for the season, I'm gunna miss it:D

Good luck Fergie!! C U soon.

Hi Steve, glad to see your still around.

Ken, post some pics (if you haven't already):D

Ken.

You'd love it here then as the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) put a complete pesticide/herbicide ban in place two years ago. Unless you have a serious infestation or go completely organic spraying of poisons is a big NONO!

Lime lots and lots of lime, that's the key

Well I'm flying out at 8 this morning so later all

Fergie

Late Entry: Ken, nice mower had one of those for Dad's garden but found the incline too steep so now it's a self propelled jobby, Though the props are hard on the roots:confused:

Bill as always thanks for the cup of Java.

Hi everyone,
Fergie have a good trip fergie
Ken L & Mit's good to be back, i'm taking a few days off work under Docs orders, had a bad night last night and could not stop coughing it eventually made me sick, all over the kitchen:mad: .
As for cutting the lawn i just move the rabbit's run around and she does the rest but i'll have to get the mower out soon now it's warming up.
Ken Mi'm still trying to convince the wife to move to NZ, it's crazy over here,

mornin' Bill! Thanks for the coffee.

Ken, nice wheels there. Around here we use those things for pushin' snow around. I had a ride on mower that I got from my Dad's estate after he passed away a few years ago (actually I bought it from my Mom). It was almost brand new. I soon found with the little lawn I have here in town that it was major overkill (that and I kept hitting my head on the low branches of a couple trees in my yard), so I sold it to a kid who lives out in the country and has an acre or so of lawn to mow (his old one bit the dust). I've seen that lawn you have. How many hours (and beers) does it take to mow it? ;)

Steve, sure hope you are on the mend soon. It is scary to have something like that and have it just hang on for that long.

Fergie, several communities near where I live are considering a ban on pesticides except to control a major problem and then will need to be done under a permit. One problem is the home owners that ignore recommendations and local laws, put on way too much of some very toxic substances and end up causing some health problems for a lot of pets and people. I read somewhere that something like 80% of the pesticides used in the US are put on lawns.........? I think the reason my lawn stays so green is that it seems to be the "litterbox" for all the local pets. I think that also explains why the color of the green comes in spots.....?!? BTW have a safe trip!

Good evening gang!

Fergie - If your still around to read this: Have a great cruise and don't leave any of your project models out where sea bats can get 'em!

Steve - condolences about your sickness, wish that hospital system would hurry up and schedule you in...!

KeNZ - My mowing machine (a zero-turn) requires both hands to operate, so beer is not an option for me unfortunately....but then again, I can finish the entire lawn in about one-third the time my old tractor used to take:D About the pix: I posted a few on the WPF this past weekend, here's the link: http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=24237&postcount=12 [I also posted a photo essay of the propane truck conversion in the CoffeeShop across the street, I put it here too if enough people express interest.] My more recent stuff hasn't been too camera-friendly...

Ray - great minds think alike, eh? My attitude has always been, "I paid for this property, I am the master of my lawn, not the other way around." My neighbor, he's a total slave to his...

It looks like I, too, am not firing on all cylinders - I've got stress-induced esophogal reflex, the pit of my stomach always feels like it's on fire. I need to force myself out to the garage to get things done on the layout so I can photograph it for the July clinic. At least I am well-stocked with Wild Berry-flavored Maalox tablets:rolleyes:

Goodnite!

Takes me around an hour and a half for the whole lot, depends on how many beers I had:D

We've had three days of rain! Must have been a good 4" worth, I'll be on the mower again as soon as it dries up!!

Ken

Mornin' Bill! I'll have one of those chocolate covered ones to go with my coffee.

Another sunny day here in the Finger Lakes which makes 3 in a row. Totally out of character for April in the Finger Lakes. Unfortunately, I have a recording that must get finished in the next couple of days and into production so very little "yard" work for me today.

Hope everyone has a fine day!
