Hi guys! I have returned... looks like I may be a month, just getting caught up on all the news here. Nice to see the same old faces and looks like some new ones.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Dave
Dave! You're BACK!!

That in itself is a great Christmas present! Let me buy you a cold one...

I'm embarassed to say it, but my girlfriend's 2 oldest placed us in a bad finacial way, we now have a new Honda Civic SI plus the payments, 2 cell phone bills that are equal to a Overland brass engine and some other great items, so we had to cut back on the good things in life :(

BUT I amd back, just need to see what everyone is doing. Thanks Ken, and now to see what we have got going with the virtual interchange. I have industries that need cars!

*walking off* Have a great Christmas everyone, I'll stop by RRF & MRF Monday, with new railfanning pics to post.

I almost forgot to mention the GREAT NEWS, I'm off on vacation till Jan 16!!! YeeHaw! I'm planning some holiday fun, huntin and, maybe, a little model railroading. ;)

Dave,

So glad to have you back, and just in time for Christmas! What a great present!

Sorry for your misfortune. Sounds like you're getting through things okay. 2006 will be a better year for you.

Any thing that we can do for you, just ask!

And don't go away again for so long!

Darrell, knew something was missing here, and quiet...for now

Welcome back David, good to see you,
Grande, have a great holiday,
Well i just finished work for Christmas and i am ready for a rest too, we got the Rockford order out for the plane to O'Hare but the New Zealand plane went a day early, they just forgot to tell us, whooops.

I am going to do some sea fishing on the 26th, i got my worms and squid today, i had to sneak them into the back of the freezer, hope Nicky dosn't try to cook them up for Christmas dinner

have a great time folks

Good morning guys and ladies. Thanks for the welcome backs :o

Have fun with that vacation Eric, I think the model railroading would have grabbed top billing ;)

I am off to the hobby store to talk all those wives and others into giving gift certificates of $50.00 and not $25.00 since we all know $25.00 at a hobby shop is not enough :) Been working at Mike's Scale Rails (well really I don't get paid in $$ just trains) for a little while now and it's amazing the variety of folks that come in and are into the hobby...

Get that Christmas shopping done guys, talk at everyone this evening.

Gee, now that's a career change that would be fun.

I've often wondered if a train store in a good location, with a good mail order/ebay business on the side would be a slow financial death or a fun time. I'm thinking of something close to a railfanning spot with a SERIOUS model railroad in the store...

Sabrina, just a quick cuppa joe for the commute home...

Gosh, this place is deserted, everybody must either be having dinner or doing their last-minute Christmas shopping...

Eric - I wish you luck with starting that new hobby shop. I might suggest a location near the Sloss furnaces, where the NS and CSX intersect - plenty of train action there, ya think?:D

. . .
Well, off to the evening traffic. Toodles!

The train action downtown would be great. So would the gang action... Maybe we could do Eric's Model Trains and SWAT Training Center. You know, kill two birds with one stone. :D

Hi everyone, Sabrina, cup of coffee please.
I'm going to start building the bench work for my 4'x8' N scale layout in the morning, should be running trains tomorrow night. I'm going to use EZ track for now, until I figure out what I want to do with the layout. I've been running them on a 4'x2' table, so the new layout will seem like a EMPIRE !!
Eric - Are you thinking about opening a hobby shop?

Take care.

Stan.

I thought the name Grande Central Station [etc.] might be more fitting. What would you use for target practice...old Tyco trains?:D

Not old Tyco trains they be worth some money these days. How bout using some old botchmans fer target practice

Naw, I've thought about it but I think it'd be a tough way (cool one though :D ) to make a living. That might be a neat retirement project.

Best wishes on the new RR. 4X8 should be a neat N scale setup.

Eric

The shop I work at is busy, but he doesn't do any Internet sales, though we do get calls from all over about out of stock Walthers products. Mike says it breaks even, the dif between retail and his cost is 40% so that doesn't leave much room, we discount 20% on the cars and engines. We had the Christmas party Thursday evening and I asked him how he decides what to oder and stock on the shelves, he said it's pretty much order new releases, and what his gut says, 50% of the time he said it sits on the self. None of the employees are paid in actual wages, we all take our hours in trade for MR related stuff, all the guys are retired or close to it. I do enjoy sitting there, talking to the customers, you hear alot of the same stories at times (reminds me of my old bartending days ;) ) but we have a decent group of regulars, I have seen a lot of grandfathers of late, building layouts for their grandkids.

Stan, great news on a 4X8 Normal Scale layout ;)

Sorry guys I've haven't posted in a long time in fact its been about a week scince I've been in here so from what I can see most are doing fine which is great. I've just been a little busy buying lionels for my self and selling some also so. Plus normal job and honey do list lol. just got done working on a freinds marx steam engine (O gauge) and its 2:38 in the morning. Have to have train around tree Christmas morning you know.

Hello everyone,
Ken L just watched a show on TV called Mega machines, it showed some Komatsu D10 Dozers at a steel plant, a CN train was tipping hot slag down a hill then the D10 came over it with the ripper, it had scrap rail sections on the ripper and they said they only last two hours a piece, the blade was armour plated with a zigzag of very hard weld, one awsome machine
