Good morning everyone.

Sabrina, the works please. Oh yeah, and bring me the pot.

Let's hear the holiday plans.

We're going to my parents tomorrow. They only live about 1hr from us, so it'll be a good day trip for Thankgiving. LGM is supposed to stay thru till Saturday. I'll straighten him out when he gets home...:D

Mornin' Sabrina. Big cuppa java, bacon, eggs, hot biscuit please.

Just got cut loose from work and will be spending the day now working on the "hunnido" list my wife left me. She's outta town til Saturday but still wants this stuff done. I asked her can I give her a list and she said its against the rules! What are the rules? After many years of research, some of it at great personal risk,:p this is all I could find on the subject of women and THE RULES.:)

Rule 1: The woman makes the rules.;)
Rule 2: The man can never know the rules.
Rule 3: If the woman ever suspects the man knows the rules, she must change them.

Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!:D:D:D

Hi Java Gang!
Things finally slowed down a bit where I could get on here for a minute.

GrandeMan: Plans for Turkey day? Well, right now things are really messed up. First, my wife has to work days;second, my Mother slipped and fell yesterday having to go to the hospital and be checked out. She is fine, but decided to go ahead and get some test ran that she has been putting off; third, my niece went in the hospital for undetermined chest pain. Well, we are still going to have a big spread of food. I may have to force myself to eat all of it.

CJ: You didn't play your honey-do's right. You should have asked, "Oh great and wonderful love of my life, if I get all my chores done that's on your list, can I start clearing out the basement and begin my layout?...please?...maybe?...soon?"

Ken/Fergie: We bought a treadmill last year and my wife and I really went at it...for a month:o . Now, I would have to get an exterminator to clear the cob webs from it. It is strange that this subject would come up just when I have almost developed enough courage to start using it again. I have to do something to get more exercise.

On the decoder info, the reason I thought I would put it over in the Dcc section is there will probably be a lot of input by others as they get their Tsunami. I felt that one gathering place of helpful info would be better than scattering it.

I had a real good phone conversation with Teffy last night (right after you Fergie, ha!). He talked like he was ready to come join us over here. He is a fine fellow and he would be able to add a lot of good posts to an already good forum.

We're getting some "new" furniture for our two extra bedrooms courtesy of my in-laws, who are selling their vacation home. Since we'll be getting it this weekend, we've been trying to get organized in preparation for it. So one large six drawer dresser just moved out to the railroad room and got stashed under the new section.

Many of you know I'm using double-track shelf rails and hangers to support my layout, and I've come across one problem with them - if the layout isn't heavy enough, they'll stay angled up - as much as 5%. Not acceptable. So before moving the drawers out, I had to drop everything one notch on the rails and then shim up at an angle - not a particularly fun project, and one I'll be looking to avoid in the future.

But everything is level now, and I can start figuring out where the track will really go, as opposed to where it is on the layout plan. [:)]

I might check out Bargain Hunter to see if anyone is selling. Might as well get a next to new at basement prices from someone who had good intentions. I know I'll use it as I do it on the ship just about every day. On the other hand Lisa has a bad ankle (pins and plates) and we may be looking at something with less pounding.

Yes Teffy is Long winded, however not boring. Did he tell you of the new aquisition the MESS is getting? Yep the C&O T-1 2-10-4 is enroute but stopping over in Texas for trials and I suspect another paint Job. Hopefully better than the last one:eek:

As far as joining us I suspect once he gets into a routine with the new job he'll start prowling again. I told him about this place and to mind his P's & Q's but Bob spelt backwards is... Bob!

Anyway Supper's up

Later

Fergie

Hello you guys, I'm having a coffee.

So what's this holiday all about? I know vaguely but not 100% sure.

I'm looking forward to my next "holiday" Moving house *groan*

Rex say Hi to your Mom!! Hope she's ok.

Thanks CJ for that filled out list I think it makes sense!!
I love those rules of yours My OL laughed.

Excercise machines HA!! We have had a never ending list that been used a few times and then sold off, what a waste of MRR money

Jeff, I'm going to do this for my layout.

I have the welding gear (mig ) so it should be easy with a jig so they are all the same.

Ken.

Evening all, Tea and biscuits for me.
Ken glad you like the video, my kids love to watch it especially when you increase the playing speed, i don't have the polar bear killers e-mail so i can't send it, can you forward it to Mr Fergie. BTW i got the e-mail, thanks ken,
Almost Turkey Time, i'll be thinking about you all at thanks giving.

NZKen: I will be sure and tell my Mom you sent her your best wishes. Check this site out about Thanksgiving. http://www.historychannel.com/thanksgiving/

Fergie: No, some how in the 1 1/2 hours we missed talking about your 2-10-4. I need to discuss with him about a new color...maybe yellow:rolleyes: :D :D

Jeff: I ran into that same problem back when I was doing my benchwork. I wanted to use them on my back wall. I wasn't aware of the angle either and couldn't figure out what was wrong. Now I know! I ended up using cedar shims between the wall and the shelf bracket. You can buy them at Lowe's/Hodo

Ken.

Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrating the first Pilgrim settlement in North America, reportedly in the state of Massachusetts. Pilgrims were a religious group who emmigrated from England by way of Holland, to escape the ridgid religious doctrines of the Church of England. They landed in North America at Plymouth Rock. Landing late in the year, it is said that the Pilgrims would not have survived the first winter had it not been for the help of the indigenous Native American Indians. The legend of the first Thanksgiving is that of Pilgrims and Indians sharing their food stocks, 'giving thanks' that the settlement would survive.

For more information, see this website: http://www.plymrock.org/who_were_the_pilgrims.htm
It gives a good history of the Pilgrims in North America.

As much as the history cynics would like to deny the Pilgrim heritage, the spirit of independence began with the Pilgrims, and the American public is not inclined to do away with either the holiday or the myths surrounding it.

BTW, Cj: you missed one of the rules:

Rule 1: The woman makes the rules.
Rule 2: The man can never know the rules.
Rule 3: If the woman ever suspects the man knows the rules, she must change them.
Rule 4: No man can change Rule 1!

Darrell, independently quiet...for now

Yeah, I've found that "Honey, while you're cleaning the kitchen and doing the laundry, I'll be downstairs working on the RR" doesn't work very well...

eta: Mrs GMan is the sweetest gal in the world. I married way out of my league. ;) It's just that, after almost 20 years, she's added all this up.:D I know what doesn't work. Really. :D I'm just trying to help Cj avoid my avoid problems by taking Rex's advice...

ps, Cj has been at this long before me guys. I'm purely kidding here.

Lisa growled at tme and told me to stop laughing so hard as I'd wake the kids. Needless to say I found it quite amusing!

Hmmmm. Seems I having trouble with the edit function all of a sudden. I went to edit my last response and my browser crashes. I probably ought build me a new computer, I think this one is close to its end of life. Its only 5 yrs old.

When anyway, I wanted to add to my post that I married way above my station as well. Except she's an Irish redhead and it only took me most of my marriage to learn how not to piss her off. Maureen O'hara in "The Quiet Man", has Nothing on my wife!

Speaking of marriage, I've just bought my good Lady a ring, for the third finger right hand!!

I thought it was about time 3.5 years of bliss. I'm gunna pop the question when we move to the new place.

Should be ok I think!! LOL

Ya know Darrell, you're right about that.:D But I figured after 32 years of marriage, THAT ONE WAS A GIVEN!

Hi, Cj.

After 17 years of marriage, a nasty divorce, and another 17 years with my girlfriend, I've learned that where women are concerned, THERE ARE NO GIVENS!

ROFLMAO

(BTW, Carolyn thinks my trains are cute. (Cute?) She is very tolerant and supports me and the trains, possibly because of the grandkids!)

Now you know why this one will last more than 17 years!

Happy Turkey Day, one and all!

Darrell, not yet stuffed, but wait!, and quiet...for now
