Yep, we've heard from Greffern in Norway, and it's been 2006 for Willis for about 20 minutes now, I think.

We still have about 3 hours and 40 minutes to go at my house. We leave New Year's Eve celebrations to the pros. :D I'll probably settle down with a movie pretty soon and be snoring (delicately, of course) before the clock chimes at 12:00.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Well gentlemen, time for me to get some beauty sleep if I plan on going to the operating session, don't want to scare them too bad, plus if I keep getting those tips from my operating session thread, I may get in trouble ;)

Goodnight and speak with you folks tomorrow, Eric, remember what Willis said about starting certian topics:rolleyes:

I'm outa here too. My beauty sleep is important, VERY imprortant.

David, I remember what Willis said. ;)

Happy 2006 folks!

Morning all and Happy New Year !!!

Hay flo I'll have my small breakfast thats 3 eggs, 6 slices of bacon, 6 slices of toast, an order of Hash Brown potatoes, and a large orange juice please thank - you

Not much happening here today just a day to take it easy hope you all have a good day too.

Good morning RT, same to ya! Flo, I'm gonna start the new year right - I'll get your Sunday brunch buffet, whatever I can pile onto my plate.

Being the nerd that I am, I didn't bother to stay awake and watch The Ball get lowered (been there, done that) although I was briefly awakened at midnite when my son lit off a few firecrackers! Now it appears everybody else is catching-up on their sleep. Guess I'll slip out to the garage and continue repairing the broken pieces of some of the larger structures that have been sitting in boxes over the last few years.

Have a great New Years Day y'all, hope there's plenty of Tylenol around for those who need it...!:p

Morning all, Flo, coffee please. CFO has gone to visit her sister in Georgia, so I got the house to my self :). Got my N scale trains on the layout up and running. It feels great to finally have a layout to work on and I still have a lot to learn, but I'll get there. ( Lot of info right here on the forum ).

Happy New Year everyone.

Stan.

Mornin' Stan, RT, Ken. Happy New Year Flo! God, girl, you look awful this mornin'. Whadja do? party all nite? Yeah I bet ya did! Well just bring me a big cuppa java, and two aspirins. I'll take the coffee, you take the aspirins!

Stan, glad you got sumpin going. I spent yesterday splitting plywood to put in my attic, as a "floor" for the storage of some of the stuff out of my basement. While I'm doing that, I'm also putting in some more insulation. Today for S&G's also gotta start taking the tree down. I really hate to do it this year. Last year I was real sick and just got out of the hospital for X-mas and we didn't even bother with one then. I really missed it too.

Stan, we gotta keep a weather eye out for today and tomorrow as well. The SPC, (Storms Prediction Center), has us under a moderate risk for severe weather today, tonight, and tomorrow. Won't be surprised to see some severe storms and a tornado or two here today. The balloon soundings, for this time of year, are actually pointing to a possible major tornadic outbreak. The only thing in our favor, so far, is what is called a CAP. This may keep the storms from getting bad by keeping the moisture from the Gulf from interacting with the higher level winds. If the cap stays intact, we'll just have rain, if not, watch out.

Well gonna go now. After I spread out that insulation I get to nail the plywood in place and start putting the stuff in the attic. Yall be go now, ya heah?

Ken L. I remeber you saying something about getting pics put on cd back sometime ago did you get it done? reason asking I'm checking into getting some old slides done and the pics I have are from days when my dad and i went rail fanning and we also went to some wrecks on the PRR one I remember real well it was where a GG1 went thru a switching tower the switch was not completely switched when he went thru it. Bet it woke the switching tower guy up as if i rember right he was alright a little shook up but fine. train went right under him it was in Paoli, PA. this happened. late 60's or real early 70's

Got back home lastnight about 7 pm .. we had a really tough time with the Storage company .. seems the climate controlled buildings arent .. we had to sort through everything (Water Damage) so no trip to the transportation museum for pictures .. sorry guys .. the Boss says we can go in the early spring..

Hope everyone had a safe and happy new year .. Ron

Stan - glad to see you can start the new year spending some Quality Time with your trains! Kinda hard to pull yourself away once you see them actually running, huh?;)

CJ - I sure hope those tornado predictions are wrong...

Ron - I don't know the whole story behind that storage house trip, but it sounds like something went majorly wrong...sorry to hear that!:(

RT - It's true I did have some old slides converted to prints, but they didn't put them on a CD - I had to scan them in and digitze them myself. Charged me ~$1.50/slide. My slides were in such poor condition and of such lousy quality (out of focus) that I decided NOT to do this for any more slides. OTOH, if yours are in good condition it might be worthwhile. Make sure you go to a professional film processing company and NOT a drugstore like I did, so you can find out for sure that they actually do CD's (save yourself the additional step). Call me if you want to discuss this in more detail.

. . .
Ciao!

*Forcing myself to stop on UP's I10 corridor* Just going railfanning today & tomorrow. Happy new year all, talk to you tomorrow night...

Had an enjoyable talk with Ken L tonight got a little off topic a couple of times (sorry ken) but anyway it was a good talk . About 35 minutes wife asked what do you all ever think to talk so long about . I just reply her and her cousin talk for over an hour normally lol.

I have about 200 slides at my mothers house in pa I need to go get and transfer to cd rom its all train pics but have to go threw over 1000 to find them lol. most PA railroad in late 50's to late 60's / early 70's period. Some are strassburg railroad also same time period.

Would like to preserve them if I can.

well all take care

Good evening guys, been a long day for me, when railfanning in the 1:160 variety, must have walked the whole 20 miles of the P&PU today, all on foot ;) got only 2-3 shots as I was too busy yacking and getting some time behind the wheel of an SD9, which is odd, they don't have a steering wheel in those engines, I had a hard time keeping ity on the road :)
