Well I've completed the re-paint of my soon-to-be CN passenger cars, I think they turned out ok, the green is darker than I expected, I may do a slight fade to them, I'm undecided so far. I've done the touch-ups and used a satin finish varnish. I'll probably leave the decaling till tomorrow and allow the varnish to thoroughly dry.

I'm looking at the chassis's for these, I'll need several new wheelsets to replace the plastic ones and replace the couplers with KD's.

lines came out quite sharp in the end.

Couple of things I've learnt doing these

Don't fold the tape into the shell, leave it hanging.
Before painting a second colour, varnish the first
Pull the tape gently downwards away from your second colour
When re-painting a car use primer first, which saves you from having to do multiple coats to cover the previous livery.

There's always a learning experience in this hobby, love it. :)

My plan for decaling these passenger cars today has come to a juddering halt, at least for the time being anyway, and it's my fault for being impatient.

The yellow stripe decals I ordered are dry decals, not waterslides, not a big problem but there's no way I can get in under the windows and the stripe I need at the bottom of the body, I've tried but I'm really not happy with what I have so far. I could mask it all up again and try spray painting the stripe, but I'm not confident of trying that.

Secondly the Canadian National waterslides I do have are as you can see, are for a much longer car, (85' I think) I can solve that by using thin styrene and adding a longer section so the CN name will fit along the roof line, but I don't have any, just the clear I use for windows, and that's too thin.

OK, so Styrene ordered 1 X 10, 20 and 30thou for the name boards and a couple of other projects I'm considering.
A roll of this self-adhesive striping 0.5mm-10.0mm

Also bought the Interiors for all three cars, this is the observation car interior.

In the meantime I'll clean up the chassis's, swap out the couplers and wheelsets (when I find them).

Lookin good Smudge!
Did I miss something, Canadian Pacific decals?
Funny story about that, I finally found some Canadian National decals (in Canada) and ordered them, carried on with the whole paint scheme with the cars, it was only when I opened the envelope for the decals that I realised that they were for Canadian Pacific  and for much longer cars.
So I could either send them back at my expense and order another set and hope they're the right ones (at a cost of $75) re-paint the cars in CN colours, which is a very boring maroon colour, or leave the cars as they are now and use the Canadian Pacific decals, I've gone with the last option, tbh, I doubt anyone would know the difference in the UK, and considering no one else but you seems to have noticed, I think I can get away with it.😀

Oh, as for the interior color, I've been meaning to let you know....I have no idea
I'm going for two-tone, brown and beige, as brown would hide all the scuff marks pple would leave with their shoes etc. but I'll have to wait for the interiors to arrive, which I ordered Monday and they still haven't been shipped yet.

Or, you can hang tight and I’ll see what I can dig up for you?
(I'll try to keep the postage under $100 😆
