I've been busy doing the Christmas, work, and living thing lately. I have hardly even looked at the forums lately. It seems that others have been just as busy. Today I get to take down all of the Christmas stuff at the house. I really enjoy the decorations but I also like how clean the house is once we take it all down.
I haven't really touched the trains lately, but I hope to rectify that situation later today. I bought a Life Like coaling tower for $4 from Wathers on impulse the other day. I plan to add it to my layout in an non prototypical fashion. It will be just down the mainline from Union station since it's the only place it will fit. I didn't have room in my planning for engine service so this is going to have to do. I figure only people on this forum will know it's wrong so no harm no foul!
Other than that I don't know much. Time to start dismantling Christmas!

Hope your all well today on this first day of 2012. i feel like i have had a holly bush dragged through me several times,,, LOL those sprouts made me ill and my lungs feel like they are filled with stones. On that note,,,, Things can only get better
Good evening. I went to my parents place for New Years dinner today. Black-eye peas and ham, cabbage, cornbread, field peas. I got up tired this morning due to all the racket last night. My nephew and some of his friends were up the road celebrating with a neighbor I choose to have very little to do with. I just don't like the guy. Anyways, they had a lot of loud music going, very big, very expensive fireworks going off and rattling my shelves and windows. That carried on til about midnight. Afterward my nephew arrived back home with some friends in tow. More loud music. Screaming and yelling. Lots of revving up of cars and trucks with very loud pipes. At 2:30 am I went out and put a stop to it. If I had to go out there again the police were being invited to attend. I already have the reputation of my bite being much worse than my bark. The party broke up pretty quickly and all as quiet. After dinner today my mother wanted to go to town to take a New Years dinner to a friend of hers then go to Stage for a few minutes. My mother, Stage and a few minutes are three things that don't go together. She and Stage go together fine but the few minutes part is impossible. The minimum is half an hour. This time it was forty-eight minutes and $181. By this time she could barely walk out to the car right at the curb and wanted to go go to Wal-Mart. I flatly vetoed that. We went to Wal-Mart any but just so I could get a Mountain Dew from one of the vending machines outside. Their prices are really ridiculous. A twenty ounce bottle of Mountain Dew now costs $2. The next stop was home.
Time for me to call it a night. I'm typing more or less with one hand tonight. Two fingers on my left hand keep cramping up and want bend backward, so I'm trying to use it as little as possible. However it doesn't want to be left out and keeps trying to get in on the typing act. This results in more typos than I care to admit to.
Good morning. It's 42° here and the sky is clear. The high is due to be 59° and it will be sunny.
I'm up and around very early today. Just one of those cases of waking up and can't get back to sleep. The cramping problem in my left hand seem to have resolved itself and I can once again comfortably type using both hands. My typing speed is nothing the shout about, just twenty-five to thirty words a minute. I have nothing in particular on my schedule today other than getting started on painting a junkyard scene. My neck, lower back and knees ache but what else is new? I'm glad Christmas and New Years are past. Now things can get back to normal.
Good morning. It's sunny and 35, headed for a high of 42. Tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny and 30 for a high.
Not a w hole lot planned for today, other than wiring a couple of switches on the layout. Yesterday, I went to Walmart and got a bluetooth keyboard for my tablet, which I'm using to type this. Much less typos. For those of you interested, I got a Lenovo Ideapad for Christmas, which replaced the cheap Chinese Ipad knockoff I had gotten for my birthday last year. It met a horrible end by being thrown on the floor, a person falling on it, and a pot of boiling hot coffee landing on it. Let's hope this one lives a long, happy life...

I brought in the New Year right by working on the layout by figuring out the shape of the filler template. Actually I didn't get it completed until New Year's morning which made me feel good anyway. Also in the process of taking some pictures earlier, as posted, I realized I needed to correct the way I had the sub-roadbed headed toward the West, as it was just a straight run and then turning North and over toward the mine that will be on the South side of Amalgamate Hill. I actually wound up adding to filler sections to move the second half of the curve further in back of the the Copper and Iron Works to allow for a more natural slope to the hillside there. I'll post some pictures shortly.
We are supposed to be on the single digits with a wind chill below zero. Below 70 is to danged cold. I want spring and the car show season to start and I want it NOW
As I said before here are the two images, well the second image wouldn't produce a thumbnail but sure uploaded just fine?? and everything is identical to the image information detail below??, so here is the shot showing the filler template I made and already used it to mark off the outline on the OSB sub-roadbed I'm using. Actually it was so long I had to cut it into two sections right at the point between where the two log cars are at.
The second image showed the upper ML as it continues on and shortly make a partial curve to the Right and then extends straight for a ways and the rest of the curve completes the connection to upper section leading over to Amalgamate Hill, behind and above the Copper & Iron Works below, and the spur line leading up to the mine.
I had this section in temporarily before but it was just too close to the back of the Serpha Copper & Iron Works as I didn't have the broken curves in or the added extensions to move this upper line farther back. I'm much happier with it now as this how I envisioned it.
