Hi all, I am building an N Scale layout and have bought a reasonable amount of rolling stock. Some of the wagons have Kadee truck couplers that I'd like to swap for Micro Trains couplers. When I order the new couplers do I need a specific length, eg. Long, Medium ? Or just a standard one.

Thanks in advance,

I’m also in N scale. I have short, medium and long length extensions for my MTL’s. This way if the spacing between cars is wrong, I can swap out to the next size up. Also depends on your curve radius.

Ummm, Kadee and Micro Trains are the same thing. Kadee is just the brand name being used in the early 1980s. The brothers split the company. One took the Kadee brand and HO scale, the other took the N-scale and change the brand name to Micro Trains. If there is any difference at all it is just some evolutionary tweeks over the years.

I still have some N scale stuff but I was never a fan of the “slinky” effect from pulling against the springs in the couplers.
There’s a new type of N coupler now that I think is a real game changer, going to try some out…
