Do not use the orange style - the handles aren't very strong. 1/2" foam board - one swipe & 3/4 & above, 2 or more swipes to get a clean cut. I have been doing a 1/2 starter swipe & go from there. Seems to work fine.

your concept is right, the drawing is wrong, thats a pretty harsh rise there... it should slowly curve-rise up, any roadbed on top may smooth any roughies anyways, some filling may be or not needed.

If you're talking about the drawing at the start of the thread, a) it's just a conceptual drawing not meant to be to scale, and b) you'll see through the rest of the thread that the strategy was abandoned as unnecessary in favor of simpler solutions....

I have very roughly laid the track to get a brief idea of what I have going on
After removing all the track - I am now going to proceed with the PL 300. I carefully marked each piece with marker so I can place it right back in its spot more easily. Everything seems to be going smoothly so far - knock on wood

DairyStateDad : Have you tried the razor knife yet ?

The easiest way to cut foam is an electric carving knife. (Remember those?) If you don't have one, ask friends, go to a thrift shop, try Used Yourtown or Kijijii. You'll thank me when you try it.
